I've been surprised how little i use my switch in docked mode. I had thought i'd want a second one, but 70% of my switch gaming is in handheld mode so i'll probably pass for now.

I thought these docks had very little hardware in them? If so that's quite a mark up...

I Guess we know who is paying for the failure that was the WiiU then...

They're also notorious for scratching your console even on the very first use.

Nintendo really are taking the piss here.

These will fall in price. Way overpriced.

Think what could be done with Zen (AMD) instead of this shield revision.

Very low power draw, over overclocks when docked but also xfire with an apu in dock. That would compete with Xbox and Ps#

I don't necessarily want to defend Nintendo here, but i feel the need to put this into perspective a little. The docks are not notorious for scratching the consoles - there were a few docks which had been bent in their packaging which in a few cases has led to scratches on the console. It's not a design flaw or major problem but as usual various websites have taken the story and ran with it as being a major issue...99.9% of owners have no issues.

£80 is expensive but I can see why given their RRPs elsewhere - the switch power adapter is £25 (£30 RRP), you could assume that a "fair" price for the dock itself is £30 ish too, add in a HDMI cable (£10 for a branded one) and you are at the £70 mark. So you can see where they arrived at that price.

3rd party "unofficial" USB-C -> HDMI docks retail for £50-£60 (designed for laptops rather than the switch), without an A/C adapter.

It's expensive and way too much for me to pick one up, but I can see why they are charging it. They will still sell out too...

Nintendo know where their bread is buttered but keeping the price of hardware high.
