Ok, I'll ask. How does this get us closer to HL3?

Now they no longer have to work with the Vive, which might free up one person for one day a week. They can get to re-writing the story for the Nth time.

Or it could be that HL3 will be a simulated-reality exclusive, and they're forging in that direction. I'd like to be optimistic that one day I will get to play HL2:E3, given that my 3rd ever PC game was the HL2 demo.

At this point I'm thinking HL3 will never come to life as the franchise is just too old, the people who played HL are all in their thirties and aren't getting any younger.
