AMD does everything it can to bring in a fair priced CPU to try and regain marketshare so the motherboard manufacturers pretty much do everything they can to undo it...
Hopefully the prices are just placeholders and they come in at more realistic prices because those are just stupid, even intel mobtherboards are coming in cheaper.

Threadripper and X399 MBs are HEDT (High End Desktop), why you think the manufacturers bring
High End MBs?

And that still doesn't mean they need to be THAT expensive, we all know that will be a one to one $ to £ conversion when it comes over here....they're expensive even compared with intels options.

The huge socket is probably one of the reasons why they're so much more expensive. I have to wonder if wiring those extra PCI-E lanes would have something to do with it as well...
Re: Asus, ASRock, MSI and Gigabyte punt Threadripper motherboards
One of the main financial incentives to go AMD is now a financial incentive to go Intel....how the worm turns.
Re: Asus, ASRock, MSI and Gigabyte punt Threadripper motherboards
Most people don't actually need a Threadripper though. Just get a Ryzen 7 and be done with it. It's aimed high because it's the first time in ages that AMD can actually price it that high. The board are all loaded there will be cheaper options available
Re: Asus, ASRock, MSI and Gigabyte punt Threadripper motherboards
Threadripper and epyc come in a little plastic widget to fit to the socket? Neat, I didn't know that

Yup it's cool innit. Dead easy to insert ;)
