A lot of is in gaming sales too - it shows you AMD not even having a GTX1070 competitor for over a year has had a negative impact on brand perception, and they still need to improve performance/watt if they want to get more GPU sales in laptops. Sadly for them almost all gaming laptops are still with Nvidia GPUs.

if they're making a mega-profit then you KNOW that we're being overcharged and milked for every single penny. That's business.

What to do - I would agree, but AMD hasn't really shown up to the fight and Raja Koduri basically said a mindset a few years ago at AMD was dGPU was mostly dead,so combine that with most of the R and D being diverted to Ryzen, has meant AMD has been left lacking in dGPU on the consumer side.

Vega,AFAIK,was probably already in play when he joined so hopefully he can help turn things around.

it just shows me how greedy these companies are the prices of the graphics card are well
    over priced,
for what it cost to make they are getting extortionate profits from each card sold.

And a lot of that profit will be to recoup R&D, and most will go to the owners of the business, the shareholders, who have invested in it. Wish I had some shares!

~2B is now mega profit? LOL. Have you seen Apple, Google, Samsung, Intel, MSFT etc yearly income? If you were being OVERCHARGED, sales would not be going UP and income would stall.

The definition of overcharged shows up when products start staying on shelves. That fact that they are leaving faster with every rev (google it if desired) shows people see VALUE even if YOU don't like the price Sorry not everyone has management as dumb as AMD, where they can't seem to get anywhere NEAR what their products are worth (quit pricing your crap to death) which massively shows in their bottom line. But yes, the entire job of business is to make as much money as possible.

LMAO,lots of people are dumb - this is why so many are buying everything on credit and massively in debt, and not putting enough away for the future. You talk about Apple,I have seen people on zero hour contacts barely earning enough to cover their rent and food still buying the latest iPhone on credit and spending stupid amounts each month on their phone contracts. This is why the subprime crisis happened, lots of people who could barely afford a mortgage getting one,and the dumb banks betting on them paying them off.

To show you how low the expectations of many PC builders sunk, you can see how Intel was charging upto £250 for quad core non-HT CPU,when years ago you could get a Q6600 at one point for close to £100. On top of this you don't even get a cooler now and enthusiasts will still excuse make for invalidating their warranties by delidding, because Intel cannot bother to actually try and engineer a proper thermal interface.

People are shocked at the value of Ryzen - guess what I still remember years ago when a £50 Intel CPU could be overclocked on a £50 motherboard. Core i3s were sub £100 and could be overclocked on £60 motherboards. I could get a brand new locked Core i7 for under £180 a few years ago.

Things are returning to what they should be now.

Even if GPUs have gone up in price(look at the GTX580 to the Titan Xp in terms of price and don't give me the crap about it being a different name) at least performance has generally gone up even if the increases in midrange have slowed down, look by comparison and see how little performance has gone up in the CPU space??

That is because Intel has piddled away billions on other areas like Atom, etc and used desktop and other areas as cash cows.

the entire job of business is to make as much money as possible.
So,what?? The whole point of a consumer is not to care. Unless you have some link to the company, whats the point?? Is the company even massively contributing to local employment so has a decent knock-on effect on the local economy??

Do you honestly when food shopping go into Morrisons and think, wait the Tesco next door has made more money, you know what I am going to go into the Tesco now even if all the same products I buy cost more and are the same quality??

Our money is hard earned and the whole point of enthuisasts was to mod cheaper products so to not spend the extra money.

A lot of consumers are so gullible to marketing, and E-PEEN they excuse make for all ripoff stuff everywhere, whilst many are massively burning the candle at both ends.

If you are well off,it does not matter but with so much consumer debt,it makes me wonder how much of it is on borrowed money.

In the end the "ripoff" culture is not the fault of companies its the fault of weak willed consumers who are in a idiotic game of one-upmanship.

If I was a company and found a gullible audience I would rip them off as much as I could. This is what people like Apple and similar companies(even Samsung) are doing.

The fact there is SO MUCH information out there for people to make a more informed decision at any point in the last 30 years, but people CBA and that is entirely their own fault.

When you have people barely surviving buying ridiculously expensive phones, etc everytime a new one is released, etc and can barely put a roof over their head, its the magic money tree for companies.
