Now that seems like an interesting board. 16 cores and 32gb flash on board means just memory and a few other peripherals to get up and running
Old puter - still good enuff till I save some pennies!
Atom is still going stronk!
Hmmm, 16 cores/2.0GHz @ 31W TDP? I wonder what clock you'd get on an 8C/16T Ryzen @ 31W....
spoiler - it's roughly 2.0GHz, based on cTDP for 32 core EPYC
Two 10GbE SFP+ cages and 4 SAS connectors, ooh that's going to cost
Holy sweet jesus and spank my adams...
Yes that seems like an very interesting board but it dose have some downside
1: Share 2 port SAS with PCIe 8x so it will only useful as a files server
2: 32gb flash is good enough for linux server you may as well forget windows server even wil successful installation it you have little to room.
3: Yes agree 10GBE SFP that's going to cost you, The average or proconsumer will not need this kind of setup there better off with just Link Aggregation / Port Teaming.
4: No pricing on the board
I'm going to guess at a price of at least £5-600 for the board, given that current C2000 series 8-core boards cost around £400.
These are the latest Atom,so ST performance seems around Core2 level which is not too shabby.
Freenas build? Just need a suitable case, with 8 / 12 3.5" swappable drive bays... suggestions?
Your right it dose offers a whole new level of better performance over the last one, Maybe a small, miid size business space but not an enterprise network space.
Sound good just bad that it has Share 2 port SAS with PCIe 8x as a PCIe 4port expansion chassis would be a wonderful add-on with some Hauppauge WinTV-quadHD tuners
That Intel still won't come clean about the severe issues with the Atom C2000 series:

I would be very weary about buying anything expensive or critical with an Intel Atom.
From the reports, Intel seem to be trying to bury the whole C2000 issue.

Nice to see SFP+ on motherboards, hopefully this will filter down to consumer motherboards soon.
SFP+ direct attach = win

Sorry, you're right about case budget, but the U-Nas cases while expensive, seem to do what I need - relatively quiet, more than 4 bays (I have the Microserver), upgradeable mobo, included PSU... I've found a cheaper case, like a Fractal Define, only works if you never have to touch it again...
