Why also, at the mega mega prices of some of these (friend bought whatever the most recent widescreen 40"-ish über-ROG monitor is), do they only have a red LED thing on the base? Surely it should all be RGB, even if it is a ROG product? Their motherboards have it...

If I'm paying that kind of money, I'd want all the features...

Because anything 4K is a waste of money unless you have to use it professional in ways of rendering, creating pictures and by then I would say that 4K is about to be outdated in favour for 8k.

Yeah it doesn't even have G-Sync, I'd expect this to come in at £200-£250 (£250 considering it's ROG so overprice slightly) and £250-£300 for the G-Sync version, I got my XF270HU for £380 last May which I now think was a total bargain.

As others have said: WHY OH WHY WOULD YOU GO 1080P ON A 27" MONITOR?!?!??!?!

(Caps intentional to get my point across).

Put in a 1440P panel, drop the ludicrous RGB lighting (and the price a couple of notches) and you're golden.

BTW, VA certainly isn't a compromise between TN and IPS. It's wholly on par with IPS, but both technologies each have some drawbacks with regard to the other (IPS: wide viewing angles but poor black level, VA: great black level with narrower viewing angles and a possible tendency to colour shift).
