Meh, until android phone companies are forced to support all their products for at least a few years this update will be mean nothing for most android users who won't use third party ROMs.

Re: Google introduces Android 8.0 Oreo

They're right though. Oreos are turgid.

Hopefully, the new OS will bring many benefits though. Not that I'll see it on my Moto X Force...

No, sorry guys, but I'm with Mark on this one. If you offered me biscuits then told me you only had Oreos, I'd be really quite miffed...

Re: Google introduces Android 8.0 Oreo

I certainly hope Android 8 leaves a better taste in the mouth (proverbially speaking of course) than that inedible POS biscuit. Bought a roll once. Tried one. Almost had to talk into the big white telephone. Couldn't give the rest away quickly enough.

Re: Google introduces Android 8.0 Oreo

I don't think google thought this through. Instead of talking about the great new features of their latest OS, we're talking about how terrible the biscuits are...

They're beyond terrible. I'd almost go so far as to call it affront on biscuits to mention them in the same sentence. Although... they make me think of Holly Johnson's late 80s hit "Americanos". A not altogether terrible memory...

Re: Google introduces Android 8.0 Oreo

Not sure what the hate is about them using Oreo as a name and they are highly popular but I guess the minority are getting a little miffed and upset that their opinion isn't at the forefront (like a lot of todays divisive topics) </sarcam>

Re: Google introduces Android 8.0 Oreo

Never quite understood why they can't use numbers like Android v8 or V9 much easier than counting through the alphabet to work out which one it is in sequence.

(BTW, totally agree about Oreos, very sickly and over-rated - maybe that's the connection? )

Because new version 'names' didn't tally with major version numbers until quite recently (5.0/Lollipop, iirc). Plus branding - I'm sure they'd rather people were talking about Android than not, even if it is only about the choice of name this time round...
