Re: Apple iPhone X 'the biggest leap forward since the original iPhone'
impresses me as much as the last time I took a dump, phones are stupid
Re: Apple iPhone X 'the biggest leap forward since the original iPhone'
Got to admit those are some nice specs and oled is very nice. But the price is too high.
I guess Apple having to pay samsung for the oled displays bumped up the cost a fair bit too
Re: Apple iPhone X 'the biggest leap forward since the original iPhone'
It amazes me how people don't see £50+ monthly contracts as expensive.
Both mine and my wifes combined sim only deals cost £7.50 a month and we are both rocking a Huawei P8 which does everything we need our phones to do (bought outright for £199.99 each).
run that for 24 months and you geta monthly cost of £12.09 each per month. The fact we will probably run the phones longer makes it cheaper.
But hey I save money on phones so I can waste it elsewhere.
Re: Apple iPhone X 'the biggest leap forward since the original iPhone'
Ha Ha! Nothing beats a fail on stage!
Apple is technology for stupid people
Re: Apple iPhone X 'the biggest leap forward since the original iPhone'
Thanks but no thanks. It now looks like a lower priced samsung or the like where the screen doesn't go to the edge. No fingerprint reader, how easy is that for a mugger, the police or anyone else to point the phone at you and its unlocked. There goes your 5th amendment right my american friends. Wow wireless charging, my 3 previous phones could do that. Think how much an apple wireless charging pad is going to cost. Animated emojis that display your expression omg wet my pants with excitement, thanks for treating me like I'm 12 instead of an adult, apple. Over £1000 for a high end phone, nope its certainly not worth that.
Re: Apple iPhone X 'the biggest leap forward since the original iPhone'
And so the Master becomes the Pupil as Apple copies Samsung.
Re: Apple iPhone X 'the biggest leap forward since the original iPhone'
The only thing about these phones that surprises me is the fact the wireless charging uses the Qi standard rather than a proprietary Apple one.
Re: Apple iPhone X 'the biggest leap forward since the original iPhone'
So they still think they can charge at $1=£1.
Remember, they put up their prices when the £ was below $1.20, it's now $1.32.
Rip-off.
Re: Apple iPhone X 'the biggest leap forward since the original iPhone'
People will still buy it, price is no obstacle to owning something like that. People aspire to having something different, iphone is perfect example. If the X stays as a status symbol for a while then even more will want it. However, it does appear to be a catch up not a leader in many many ways again. Apple need to really innovate soon

Only for Apple... Except for the price. That's truly a first.
All in all it was all a bit meh. The only interesting bit was the new Apple TV, which also ended up being kind of dull. Especially disappointing is the fact that the new remote seems to be just as shockingly dire as the previous incarnation.

UK prices are quoted inclusive of 20% VAT. US prices are usually quoted without sales tax as that varies from State to state.
The exVAT price is £832 which is at an exchange rate of $1.20.
Re: Apple iPhone X 'the biggest leap forward since the original iPhone'
Who would've thought we'd see Apple following Microsoft?! No Windows 9, and no iPhone 9!
Re: Apple iPhone X 'the biggest leap forward since the original iPhone'
The best thing is the addition of wireless charging, which if you've used it (I had it on my Nexus 5) is a frustrating thing to have to come away from (though USB-C somewhat mitigated it).
Hopefully this will pull some other manufacturers away from the trend of aluminium-backed phones and wireless charging can become more popular again.
The screen - meh, others have done it better and for a damn sight less (though I prefer this to the Galaxy S8's/Note 8's Edge).
Re: Apple iPhone X 'the biggest leap forward since the original iPhone'
Lots of hysterical shouts of "daylight robbery" and questions about how anyone would justify this, but remember that anything in life is worth precisely as much as you'll get out of it.
For me, the nature of my life and work means that my mobile phone is almost an extension of myself. With that in mind, can I justify £1,000 on one? Sure. Will I? I don't know yet - perhaps not immediately. Personally, I don't understand why people buy £18,000 cars when £8,000 ones exist which do exactly the same job.
The point is; you do you, let others do them ;-)
Re: Apple iPhone X 'the biggest leap forward since the original iPhone'
So $999 roughly comes to £750 at the current exchange rates but we are having to pay more to get it over here, why is it that a lot of companies think they can just get away with swapping out the currency symbol and rip us off.
The iPhone 8 is $699 which is around £550 which would work out about the same contract price as an upgrade when mine is due next year, again though they will most likely just swap the currency symbol out with it.
Re: Apple iPhone X 'the biggest leap forward since the original iPhone'
meh...
Also the new iWatch and the 4K iTV... I get that Apple aren't the innovator that they say they are, but all this has been available on Android for a while...
Maybe we're all waiting for the next big leap
