Wow, they actually managed to push Fury into a situation where its VRAM was overwhelmed, at 4k 8XMSAA. Considering all of the negativity about it, think this is the first time I've seen it tank in a benchmark.
Would love to know what the undervolted / overclocked 56s could do here too.
Edit: flashbacks of Dirt 4.

....yea but Vega 64 uses 3 phase electricity connected directly to the neighborhood transformer! Give us power usage folks.
New Nvidia drivers out in 3...2..
TBH I'm just glad my R9 380 has't dropped off the bottom of the charts yet forcing me to spend money
Do we have any info on how these benchmarks were done? I'm not sure if there's a benchmarking utility in game. Also interesting to note this is a DX12 game so helps to strengthen AMDs position for the future.
Half dev, Half doge. Some say DevDoge

If something is/was broke it was probably me. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I maybe wrong but from what i can tell it's not a DX12 title, at least not a proper one, as it's only using the 11_0 feature set.

Sarcasm is redundant here. It IS a shock result. Sure, consoles run AMD hardware but when was the last time a console port performed well on PC with no disastrous frametime variance? And perhaps more importantly, when was the last time console optimization carried over with the port? Because my mind is serving up Darksiders, Saints Row 2, Dark Souls, Nier Automata, etc, and endless forum posts about poor porting. Even if the story here is that Forza devs actually optimized for Vega, the fact it gets a 23% lead over 1080Ti with game ready drivers...
It does use the DX12 API but it's only using the 11_0 feature set from DX12, all versions of DX have all the features of previous versions, if you go back a page on the article linked to they say the following...
The game uses only the DirectX 12 API, but only the feature level 11_0 and, like all other DirectX 12 games so far, no new hardware features of the API.
Something tells me NV will put a new driver out shortly, or they think sales of the game will suck on PC so why bother (console port of already niche product). IE, there is no FORZA game on steam due to MSFT tying them to windows store. So I think this might be a case of "WHO CARES" from nvidia and the drivers being new are just a fact of checking it runs ok, but not really optimizing for a console game ported and tied to windows store That thing will already have terrible sales on PC just due to windows store only. Sales of Forza3 were 5.9M on xbox, but forza6 less than 2mil. So sales have tanked over the last 3 versions, and it isn't necessary to optimize for this game on PC (for what 100k sales if their lucky?). All forza PC games don't even register at vgchartz .1 sales (100k is needed to show up). Why optimize if no version on PC has yet cracked 100k sales? Total waste of time. AMD can have one game...LOL
kind of pointless, everyone with a PC and a pair of balls will be playing project cars 2, not some lame microsoft game

This is the first full PC version, Forza 6 was an extended demo version and was free.
Also Forza 5 was a launch title for the xbox one and was bundled with many consoles.
They have lost their way with the forza series though where you have to go really digging for the car enthusiast bits that made the game interesting in the first place
You can't compare it against games with different (lazy) devs, and game ready drivers don't mean they really are game ready. It's obvious nvidia can close that performance gap with driver improvements as the vega64 is not 23% more powerful than a 1080ti, this current performance is the result of Microsoft working closely with AMD hardware plain and simple. It's not an attack on AMD I want them to do well, but sensationalist headlines like this because of one game need to be called out for what it is, to avoid confusion to the general public on what is the better hardware.
Thank goodness the majority of the population don't then
PCars2 is a great example of the rather dull race simulation games out there. And I enjoy them every now and again too. But I actually preferred their earlier game, NFS Shift 2, because sometimes there are different aspects of games that different people enjoy - I love upgrading cars for example, and shift allows me to do that without having to throw comedy driving physics in there at the same time. Forza Horizon 3 is much played as well, because it's simply a hell of a lot of fun.
And when I feel like I want well simulated track battles... well, there's always assetto corsa
