GPU specs are a bit all over the place. Minimum of an R9 290 or GTX 770 - the R9 is much faster! Recommended RX470 - isn't that actually pretty similar in terms of performance to the R9 290?
So, re: minimum spec ....
Min CPU .... fail
Min GPU .... fail
Min RAM .... fail
Steam A/c ... fail.
At least I pass on OS. Win7.
Oh well. Saves me some wedge buying the game, and/or tells me what to not put on my Christmas list (if I had one), I guess.
I hope this just Bethesda early april fool joke as we are NOT LAUGHING ONE BIT here.
@Saracen
it's a Steam game activated online so you're out anyway ;-)

The HD7970GE/R9 280X was generally slightly faster than the GTX770 and more importantly had more VRAM. It also hammered the GTX770 in Doom, when run in Vulkan mode:

In OpenGL mode they were broadly similar(or it might have been a bit better for the GTX770 IIRC) This is most likely an OS support issue I suspect - I wonder if the R9 290 is still fully supported under Win10 and the HD7970GE/R9 280X has only legacy support.
I am so amped for this game. Please dont be a DLC bug ridden mess!
And that are serious demands for hardware... so, now i wonder what they will give use from it
Well it will confuse them because they will actualt think that they will be able to play it on i5 because it is new gen - but if you count the #core and the requirement you can clearly see they need 8 threads to run thier s***. Also if you see relative single core improvement from 3xxx to 8xxx (which is not significant, propably about 5% with matching clock). So no, you propably wont run it on any i5 released till today.
Ohh, damn, its not for me as well then
if you are lucky, you processor will give it a go - expect it to go hot
I'm kinda stumped on how to feel about this. On the one hand, the minimum specs requiring an 8 thread CPU is going to pee on a *lot* of people's chips. On the other hand, it makes me think that if an 8 thread CPU is the minimum requirement, then they really went all out with details that would require one.
But then I think that it could just be bad coding, and the extra horsepower is needed to hide shoddy work ha.
As the next gen consoles are 8 core parts, more and more games will be using that as their baseline, as practically all games nowadays are console first
Yup, that's why I said "Steam: fail"
That said, this is one of very few games I MIGHT be prepared to make an exception for, and create an account especially.
My objections to Steam are on several levels, one of which was those games that require constant internet connection for regular in-game authentication, such as on game-save, on level load, etc.
The spec for this game says Steam required to install and activate. That implies that once installed and activated, Steam is no longer needed. I would, however, want categoric answers on that before buying but I might override my other objections to Steam, on a one-off basis, if that were to prove to be the case.
The fact that this is the first game since Steam came out that I would even consider (on those terms) using Steam tell you how interested I was. But, it's academic anyhow, as I cannot see a compelling case to upgrade just about my entire games PC, or buy a new one, just to play one game.
I suppose I ought to be grateful to Bethesda for such a demanding spec, as it saved me from the temptation to dump about 15 years of refusing to countenance Steam and give in.
i7... yep, 2 logical cpu for game, 6 for Steam
