A nice phone but those extras tacked on are pretty much a waste on mobile games.

Not even a gamepad like the Motorola Z has

Give it time, its literally only just been released. I would expect a Switch/Motoz-like game pad to be available soon.

At least the logo isn't garish as it may have been in the original report a couple of weeks ago.

Whilst ut would have seemed expensive a little while back, recent pricing makes this look very compelling (dependant on both problem free hardware and software support - for obvious reasons Razor are unproven here)

I personally feel 120hz is over kill on mobile gaming. I also worry 8GB of ram will kill the battery before it's finished booting, perhaps the lower power cou mitigates this to a degree

Re: Razer Phone claimed to provide Ultimate in Mobile Entertainment

Looks like a heck of a phone, and I definitely think mobile gaming has progressed sufficiently that a product like this makes sense. However I do have concerns:
    1) The price is too high for me. I know it's the going rate right now but I'm never going to pay that much for something that lasts 2 years max.
    2) battery life. I feel like if ever a phone really needed to be a tiny bit fatter to squeeze in some extra battery, it was this one. Just not the done thing, I know!

I wonder if this is because they're not a first tier partner with the manufacturers? Those who are going to buy a helluva lot of parts tend to have access to the best components whereas those who can't buy in that kind of volume often struggle to source. This can be a supply issue or exclusivity agreements but generally it's just the economies of scale means that the number they purchase is so low and means the price is just too high, so they have to settle for a lower spec component. HTC had this issue when it lost it's top tier status with suppliers and ended up going from high spec screens on the M7 to the poorly calibrated relatively awful one on the M9 (although honestly I never had an issue with it aside from knowing the colour accuracy was off and so printing photos became a bit dodgy but I'm no professional). Bearing in mind this is only assumption based on different reports I've read so if anyone knows better I'd be happy to hear it.

I don't understand who would spend £700 on this and think they're getting something that's good value. For £850, you could buy a Nintendo Switch and a Galaxy S8. Madness

Perhaps but OIS modules are available off the shelf from Sony these days afaik. I seem to remember near enough anybody can buy a sensor package with ois now.
