Otherwise I browse the internet normally but use Sophos Corporate with InterceptX to prevent against data theft from my computer. But otherwise general PID I just keep an eye on what sites I enter it into, I check the certs and verify the website is genuine and other basic method to ascertain if I trust the page. Otherwise your data is pretty much public domain anyway, doesn't take even half a genius to pull it out of the public databases.

Considering our exalted government sacrificed our rights to privacy on the alter of security when they passed the Investigatory powers bill last year there's not much we can do.

Having said that i try to reduce the amount of information companies gather such as Google, Microsoft, Amazon, etc, etc, by checking and switching off whatever privacy related settings they offer and only provide them with the minimum amount of information needed to use their service.

I'd never use a device or software provided by a company that depends on advertising revenue such as Chrome, Windows 10, Echo, etc, etc as their raison d'etre is to sell your private information to the highest bidder, an extension to that philosophy also means i use web browser that focuses more on security and privacy than what i guess are the big three and along with that browser i use adblock latitude and only white-list sites i visit regularly.

I use Ublock origin , ghostery , no-script , a hosts file from mvps.org and a VPN which keeps most of the advertisements / trackers at bay. I don't think anyone can achieve absolute privacy on the internet but you can make it more difficult to steal ones identity , in which they will move on an easier target.

Https, no-script and ad-nauseum, which not only blocks the ads but clicks them all too. In wider terms I never use the same password for more than 1 site and I use Keepass to manage all of that.

I mean I have ublock and I do use it but I don't really bother other than that. I've put out enough information that if you tried you could probably find out all kinds of things about me.

Maybe this would have bothered me in the dim and distant past, but now, well, it's just life. so corporation like Gooogle and Microsoft can find out about me, it's not likely it'll be any kind of disaster in my future. I guess the main thing to worry about is crime. I feel pretty secure about this, moving forward.

Fake facebook name, with all the privacy settings. No pics. Every friend is someone I know IRL. No family added (not a security thing, just, as it's only mates, I say stuff I wouldn't want them reading)
Different account names at different social media platforms (reddit, imgur. Don't use twitter or anything else)
Email is on a private server, and have several accounts depending on security level.

As for browsing, I don't really do much browsing. I keep to my favourites and rarely wander into the wild. I have ESET Security Suite with tight firewall rules, uBlock, AdBlock, AdBlock+. I use 2FA where it's an option (Amazon, localbitcoins are my 2 most used)

Encrypted containers, and secret containers. When mounted, the key is placed inside the container and the local copy is shredded (Gutmann 35 pass). If something were to happen, I'd just have to kill the power and the container becomes inaccessible. When I'm rebooting I copy the key out, and unmount. That way I can't be compelled to open it as it is literally impossible. However the external container is password only, just in case. It contains an Electrum wallet with 0.01 btc or so in it. It used to have 0.1. Hell it used to have 2 in it. God what I'd do to have 2 bitcoins just..spare.
