Taiwanese IT journal says prices will go up due to tight memory and GPU supplies.

Inflated product prices get more inflated. Will this mining craze please end?
Re: Mid- and high-end graphics card price increases forecast for Q1
Oh for petes sake we are already paying through the nose for memory and GPUs!
Re: Mid- and high-end graphics card price increases forecast for Q1
Let's hope the memory price fixing investigation puts a stop to this madness.

It's almost at the stage where it'll be cheaper to buy certain parts while on holiday....
Re: Mid- and high-end graphics card price increases forecast for Q1
Just as I was hoping the current prices might finally deflate so I can upgrade. The other day it was cheaper to buy a 1070Ti than it was a 1070, though 1070Ti price seems to be getting messed up now too.
Can't wait for the mining craze to end. Supposedly GPU prices were just starting to go down in the US, but certainly doesn't look like it this side of the pond yet.
My 760 will just have to keep chugging along a while longer. 2GB VRAM seems to be rapidly becoming an issue for a lot of games though, since the last 2 gens have upped VRAM standards a fair bit.
Re: Mid- and high-end graphics card price increases forecast for Q1
Glad I pulled the trigger on a 1080ti.
Re: Mid- and high-end graphics card price increases forecast for Q1
This is all getting a bit silly
Re: Mid- and high-end graphics card price increases forecast for Q1
Glad I got my RX580 8GB nitro+ when amazon listed at £208.50, should suit my needs for a while.
Shame my 3570k has to stay (and potentially get slower looking at other news) as I just can't justify the cost of DDR4 to upgrade.

That's the other problem, when RAM becomes almost as expensive as higher end graphics cards for what I'd ideally like to build. I get the impression that the supply chain is being deliberately restricted to push up pricing, I certainly don't buy the excuses they're making. If it is because of demand, then why have they not been using those profits (Samsung etc) to increase production capacity? Something is seriously off.

I was going to get a new gpu this year but it looks like next year for me :(
Re: Mid- and high-end graphics card price increases forecast for Q1
The mining thing wont stop... but it would be easier if some of these manufactors actually made products aimed for it.

I thought the GPU manufacturers were going to make crypto specific cards to stop the gamer paying through the nose, swear I read that somewhere last year?

That's exactly what I did last year. Came back from USA with a 1080 in my carry-on for under £550, when UK price was almost £700

They did, but then priced them higher than gamer cards! #facepalm

They won't work even at a lower rrp unless they offer much greater mining performance though. Why would you buy a mining edition you'd struggle to sell on after its no longer profitable vs a gaming one you can sell on easily?
