Hyperflux: So they basically moved the cable to a mandatory and likely expensive to replace mouse mat....

LOL at the 'wireless freedom' comment too, as soon as you take the mouse away from the mouse mat it won't work any more.

Re: Razer Mamba HyperFlux is a wirelessly powered mouse

Ok first - who comes up with the naming schemes at Razer - Hyperflux?? Watching Back To The Future on a Red Bull binge whilst naming this?

And then it's a wireless mouse without the battery - or in other words - only wireless when you buy a super expensive package to use the advertised feature...mmmmk - there's a reason Logitech stuck a battery in theirs - user choice! Crazy logic going on here for me

Moving the cable to the mat is no bad thing if you're worried about the cable getting in the way as you move the mouse

£245 for a mouse and mat , pass, can almost buy a Ryzen 7 1700 for that and be on the way to an upgrade.

Re: Razer Mamba HyperFlux is a wirelessly powered mouse

Has someone in Razer's marketing department been playing buzzword bingo?

And is it just me who thinks wireless and gaming come under the idiom of never the twain shall meet, or has wireless technology improved to such an extent these days that it can match the response times of copper wires.

Oh and not soon enough! What with all those heavy batteries, just so difficult to manouver! Just the other day I let it slip off the desk, and BAM, hole through to the bloomin' kitchen.

I don't play games "properly" these days, but I used to be an all night gamer playing CSS and TF2 whilst getting very pissed and in clans. I never, ever had a problem with the mouse cable getting in the way as long as it was properly positioned and routed. In fact, for RTS games I prefer a ball mouse (with a nice heavy ball) so that I can flick it in the right direction, take it off the mat and let it keep spinning and take me quickly to the edge of the map.

As for this idea, I actually wonder if it might "turn me off" (I have an implant wired into my spine which is affected by large EM fields - interestingly, the inductive charger I use also works on my mobile phone...). It's monumentally stupid as a concept as you have no freedom, you have to use their mat and as an enthusiastic gamer you've probably practiced with and got used to a very specific mouse mat. I have my mouse mat that came with my very first proper PC - a DX4 486 100MHz beast. My girlfriend has been told never to bin it or ever consider something less manky as a replacement. Becuase it wont be a gift, it'll be a wrench to get me away from that thing. And yes, I score very highly on the autism tests.

There's no problem with wireless mice aside from additional latency and battery issues. The latter is easily solved by either using AA batteries which are easy to replace, recharging the damned thing before it dies, or having a wire as a backup (although as a hardcore gamer that'd screw up your control quite a bit). When my mouse hits "critical" battery it still has an evening's gaming in it and that's an ancient mouse (original Logitech MX Revolution) with an ancient battery.

Think I'll stick with my Logitech G900 wireless mouse plus my oversized mat of choice!

As said above, many people are particular about mouse mat, so I think this is a big issue... though not as big as the price!

Re: Razer Mamba HyperFlux is a wirelessly powered mouse

Does it charge the mouse with an internal battery (like a phone with a charging pad) , or does it only power the mouse?

No, I think it's a good 2 or so miliseconds slower.... Not that I believe it makes a jot of difference to most users anyway.

True, but i don't think someone spending £250 odd on a mouse and accompanying mat could be considered as an average (most) person (users).

I don't think even pro gamers would spend that on one.... assuming they don't get given free kit by whoever sponsors them, anyway!
