When are they going to release some "performance" drivers for use with 64bit processors/os's ?

I've had several issues over the years with certain games having certain blips in terms of performance, cards rendering background incorrectly etc. I've always wondered that when new drivers are released that comments exist on this and that game have been fixed to work properly.

I'm always bemused that the games that are still not fixed are not listed, I had to wait through 3 releases of Catalysts before Dungeon siege issue I had got fixed, its always something thats bugged me as missing information from driver releases.

Is this something that could be addressed?

    Thanks

    Driver Re-Write

Each Catalyst release is the original Catalyst driver with a few fixes tacked on, i've been watching the size of the Catalyst suite and it's spiralling out of control. My advise would be to take what you've learnt from fixing all the issues you've addressed and re-write the driver in a more efficient and size dependant way, you're going to have to do it sooner or later.

MMC - is there any chance of getting real 5.1 for dvd playback instead of downmixing it to 2 speakers.
MMC - can we please get a stable 100% working one. Instead of adding new features how about fixing remaining bugs?

This is something I'm also very interested in as are a lot of my friends, we all (well most) have ATI cards and have linux either dedicated or on partition. Would be nice for a good gfx driver to go with Linux.

I run 64 bit windows, 64 bit Linux & Free BSD, so effective stable drivers would be nice.

Why on earth do you have to apply to be a beta tester to get the 64bit Win drivers when nvidia's have been freely available for a while now?

Having said that, i've never had a problem with the std windows drivers & will be upgrading my 9800 pro to an x800 xt as soon as poss

How is it Nvidia usually (in my past experience) always produce a spot on driver that is very compatible with many games, every game i owned worked with the old 44.10 drivers.

I now have a 9700Pro and whenever a brand new game comes out, theres always some kind of issue with ati's drivers?? Take Doom 3 for example, incredibly sluggish performance without optimsation of the glprog files etc. and even the old erratic shadow problem, with on very rarely occurs.

And the old preoptimised nvidia code excuse just won't work anymore, we plough mountains of money into ATi's blatantly superior GPUs yet we get sucky drivers that undermine ati's awsome hardware.

Seriously, If the code is totally optimised for Nvidia, do you expect ATI to have the same performance??

And what issues do you have?? I have not had a SINGLE issue that was ATIs fault, the only VC issues I have had is VPU recover kicking in, and thats cause i OC'd too much on a hot day..

Also, try and update your drivers, you said you stayed with the 44.10 on nvidia, so maybe you have an old version of catalyst too??

Concidering your using the Omega drivers and not the actual ATi drivers I'd say u were hardly in a position to comment on how great ATi's drivers are

I play IL2 and theres always been a bit of an issue as to which drivers are best..

And for the record I've had NVidia cards in the past and theres never been an issue with driver compatability, but then again people didnt really tweak drivers n mess about with things in those days so there mite have been issues that people just didnt notice...
