In other news, there's water on Mars. And I won't be drinking it any time soon.

Is anyone else bothered by their choice of headline bandwidths? I wouldn't mind if it was 152 and 304 or 157 and 314...
Oh well
Ha, BT poking other providers for shaping when they are very well known for doing it themselves during peak times.
I pay for 200mbps from VM and I get regularly up to 240mbps. Except for a routing fault, I have never seen my speed substantially drop to anywhere below 75% of my rated speed. I also would bet bottom dollar that Virgin Media are going to be bringing out their 500mbps packages soon as I was speaking to VM engineers not too long ago about the infrastructure and other bits and bobs. The Superhub 3 is capable up to 600mbps and technically each cable connection to each premises can support up to that rated speed.
The only thing I would really like is for them to up their upload speeds a little bit, I sometimes suffer from the 20mbps when doing my work.
and as usual, this is only available in a limited number of high density areas
Might need to actually put that ethernet cabling around the house, would be embarassing to have faster connection to the interwebz than between rooms.
Not available in my area, see you in 2020*

I know there are people in worse situations than me but wake me up when I can get 30Mb reliably on FTTC.
I had virgin media 100M when I lived in Edinburgh and between 6pm - 10pm on weekdays I would be lucky if I could stream iplayer or anything like that. You are lucky to be in an area where they have obviously bothered to invest in making sure the local loop isn't overloaded.

Bizzarely for me, i'm happy that rollout is so limited I moved from BT Infinity to Sky Fiber Max last month (as that cuts my bill over 70% for 18 months!) and it's been great - every bit as fast and reliable as BT. If BT had enabled this for me just now.i'll be a little upset with myself for not waiting.
As it happens by the time by contract with Sky is up in 18 months it should hopefully be available and I can swap back. There is every change I expect that Sky will be able to follow suit with their own comparable higher speed service by then too, which may mean I don't even have to do that. Winner!
I'm in rural France & we recently got our 2mbps Wimax BB upgraded to fibre. We now have 850mbps! Its awesome.
Huzzahhh!!!!
This means that, by 2025 when you lot are all enjoying 300Mbps as a standard and every online service makes full use of it with 8K streaming content, we might actually get 10Mbps out here... Cor, can you imagine how fast that will be??!!
For now, it's probably still quicker to just go up Blockbuster Video!!
