Looks like that R52400g is going to be my new budget build for low perf requirement users!

Might even be my replacement for my i5 3570k... Should boost my rx480 nicely while also boosting CPU performance!
    Trust

Re: AMD Raven Ridge APU packaging photos and benchmarks leak

If that 2200U score is right, the lowest performing Raven Ridge is only 100 points behind the highest performing Bristol Ridge - https://www.3dmark.com/fs/12875630

Interestingly, it's the combined score that makes the big difference there (the A12 is otherwise well ahead) - a sign of the better power management in Ryzen shining through? If so it should make Ryzen excellent for games that are both CPU and GPU intensive.

And on a personal note, here's the 2200U compared to my existing laptop: (https://www.3dmark.com/3dm/1631837)

    Score type A10 4600m Ryzen 3 2200U
    Graphics 872 1898
    Physics 2530 3530
    Combined 294 1905
    Overall 793 2040

Come on AMD, take my money already.....

The 2200G should technically be around £85 at current exchange rates too.

I also looked for scores with the Ryzen 3 1200 and a GT1030:

    https://www.3dmark.com/search#/?mode...ce%20GT%201030

The Ryzen 3 2200G had a physics score of 6388 at 3.5GHZ~3.7GHZ it seems. This seems around the same level as the scores of the Ryzen 3 1200 at 3.7GHZ~3.8GHZ it appears with the RAM running at 2400MHZ~2666MHZ.

So hopefully the reduction in L3 cache from 8MB to 4MB,won't effect performance in games too much.

Also the 3DMark combined score for the Ryzen 5 2400G seems very similar to a Ryzen 5 1400 with a GT1030:

    https://www.3dmark.com/search#/?mode...ce%20GT%201030

Even the CPU score seems a tad higher and the graphics score is quite close.

I wonder how this will translate in games though??

Re: AMD Raven Ridge APU packaging photos and benchmarks leak

The Ryzen and Vega cores look mighty impressive but there is no way DDR4 can meet their bandwidth needs for gaming. Unless, has widespread adoption of hUMA (http://hexus.net/tech/news/cpu/54709...huma-detailed/) been added to popular OS's and Game Engines?

Re: AMD Raven Ridge APU packaging photos and benchmarks leak

    Hmmm, shenanigans?

Are those 3dm 11 scores, or 3dm firestrike? Presentation looks wrong for 3dm 11 (plus it doesn't look like you can get 3dm 11 scores by searching any more), but if it's meant to be firestrike I have to refer back to https://forums.hexus.net/hexus-news/...ml#post3912896 - that's a slide CAT posted where AMD say you need 3600MHz DDR4 and a 1675MHz GPU clock to hit 4k points in firestrike. But now I'm supposed to believe that the 15W mobile part can do that?

Sorry, but between an official AMD slide and a random youtube video, I'm going to believe AMD. All bets off. Now far less excited about the 2200U....

You won't see it in a laptop at a reasonable price for another 6 months anyway! One popped up in Germany for 530 Euros. The 2700U and 2500U were launched months ago and there's still barely any laptops with them in available in the UK. Having said that, the lower powered 8th Gen Intels also seem to be taking forever to filter through too. Personally got tired of waiting and opted for something with a 7200U and an MX150. Still beats the top end Ryzen in gaming quite comfortably, at the same price. Seems a hefty premium atm on these Ryzen laptops.

True, but that's a 15W CPU plus a 25W GPU, vs a 15W APU on its own. So it all depends on what you want.

For me, that's way more oomph than I'll ever need - my A10 4600m actually has sufficient performance for my needs, albeit in a 35W TDP. If you compare the Ryzen mobile pricing to similar laptops with Kaby-refresh CPUs (that is, the quad core i5 and i7 8000U series), the pricing is very similar. The 7200U specs are practically identical to the Ryzen 3 2200U (wonder if that numbering is a coincidence ).

Not an equal comparison when it's a meh 2C/4T CPU which can barely get past 3GHZ against a decent 4C/8T one.

The 1030 only has 48 GB/s, which is about the same as typical dual channel DDR4 bandwidth

Huh, hadn't realised the GT 1030 was a 64bit memory bus. Yeah, an APU using dual-channel 2933MHz DDR4 (which is officially supported on Raven Ridge) will have almost identical theoretical bandwidth. And AMD's slides suggest it may be realistic to run memory at up to 3600MHz...

R7 mobile not too shabby, would love to see that in a itx overclocked due to the low wattage.

AMD is a GAME-CHANGER!! More horses for the price of a Pentium dual core.
