Huawei unveils the ultra-thin MateBook X Pro

Minimal bezel design meant the webcam had to migrate to a popup behind the keyboard.

Biometrics, Popup Camera, Spill Proof keyboard.

A lot to like there actually when I thought it would just be a crappy Mac knock-off.

Bit of an odd screen resolution, but a very tidy looking thing. Makes my XPS look a bit podgy

    "Matebook X Pro"

    Brilliant typical Chinese creativity there.

They actually did themselves a disservice by using a name like that IMO, the device specs look to be excellent so there was no real need to try and copy Apple branding.

I have a strong suspicion there will be cooling/throttling issues and a hard time dealing with RMAs should there be any defects. That fear would be enough to put me off... but time will tell if I'm right.

Pretty sure Dell used that resolution one of their XPS models...
edit: actually thinking about it it was 3200 x 1800 so this is more square (which is, IMO, better for actually doing things that people do)
edit2: This is the same as the Surfacebook 2, knew I had seen it somewhere before.

Good to use it as a Hackintosh?

Re: Huawei unveils the ultra-thin MateBook X Pro

    Ahh Huawei

The company that used Chinese Government espionage information in order to steal technology from Canada, the EU, and the US, and to steal privileged information that enabled them to undercut the competition on contracts. A good example is Nortel.

Also, it has Intel inside.. more security holes for Huawei's espionage activity. Why use a CPU that can be secured with a password when you're likely being spied on anyway!
