Edit!!
Its 1000NITS peak brightness - IIRC,sustained brightness is a bit less.
First UHD film I watched was Life of Pi. It really is quite impressive. If you haven't already got a UHD player, get one. Discs release the full potential of the screen. Saying that, Altered Carbon on Netflix looks really good...
I've never measured the brightness (who would?) but it's bright enough to make you squint with some scenes (explosions, sunrises, etc).

Yeah its very bright - think we turned it down. I watched Avatar, which is native 2K and the upscaling and pseudo-HDR worked very well indeed.
The speakers on the TV were actually half decent, which negated having to spend extra on a soundbar for most purposes,IMHO OFC.
Re: Samsung unveils 2018 QLED TVs
Problem is most content is 720p on cable box, Up scaling is usually crap. A processor in tv designed for it can only do so much with the original picture.
What good is all these new tv's if the contents picture quality is still crap?
Maybe we need to wait for good A.I. processors in tv's that can magically fill in the grainy bits or blurry parts. I would pay a small fortune for a tv capable of doing that.
Been after a new telly for at least 2 years now, Just can't bring myself to upgrade though.
Same as A/V receiver, Too much happening the minute you buy one it's obsolete.
Waiting for standards to settle down a little, Such as which HDR format will be the main one, new HDMI port, Dolby Atmos.
Same with Tv's, Not keen on OLED, Like the Sony Z9D more but will wait it out for this micro OLED.
I'll juts keep using my 10+ year old Sony Bravia and old Sony Muteki 6.2 surround. :)
