    AMD says there will be 60+ new Ryzen OEM platforms in 2018

    And the firm hopes to return to its Athlon64 CPU market share performance levels.

    I do question why they aren't doing better in laptop space with their APU.

    Hopefully this year will see some improvements in their numbers.

    They absolutely need to make everything they can to maximize battery life if they want to sell on mobile. First implementations are not great, but not that bad either.

    They also need to get laptop makers on-board to make decent offerings using AMD CPUs / APUs / GPUs.

    All too often they are not well thought out and often have something that makes you want to go for an Intel / nVidia based laptop, not because of the AMD tech on offer but because the makers do odd things with the rest of the spec:

    - Inferior screen spec's (Size options, Res options, general screen performance)
    - Odd RAM amounts, speeds and limited options for upgrade (pairing an APU with slow RAM that gimps the GPU performance, some have had only a single slot that you could change!)
    - Disk options (SSD small or lack thereof, M.2 small or lack thereof, some have had mechanical only options)

    I can understand in the past when the AMD tech wasn't very competitive in this space that manufactures didn't put as much effort in but AMD need to get them out of that habit and fast!

    Driver support for APU's is sadly lacking. They won't get much out there when the latest drivers don't work very well and are from December
    Old puter - still good enuff till I save some pennies!

    Yes, driver support is a must also, because I suspect that most of the power consumption being too high issue, is related to bad driver-firmware combination. As for screens, I didn't see yet a 1366x768 TN screen, so it is ok this time. Still, Ryzen 3 might end up in such a laptop, but they could at least make it FHD, if not IPS.
    What they also need to push, is for very slim 2 in 1 offerings, like Yoga, Zenbook, Portege, etc, to have Ryzen and preferably, better than Intel, battery life. If they do that, they will sell a LOT of them.

    They won't have better than Intel battery life how it is set up at moment. The design is for multiple operating useages, thus you have laptop through to server uses. They might optomise for battery life next refresh but this one, whilst pretty good isn't in Intels league yet
    Old puter - still good enuff till I save some pennies!
