    Intel CPU 'BranchScope' vulnerabilities detailed

Similar to the Spectre 2 side-channel vulns but perhaps not fixed by the microcode patches.

Further patches, further performance hits, decreasing I/O operation speeds. Exceptional.

They DO have "decent" chips out. They just don't have great or exceptional chips out. You seem to be conflating the the two words lol.

Never mind we can probably depend on Microsoft to patch it with updates that makes you even more vulnerable, at least third times a charm.

with all the billions at intel disposal for years they did not do enough research on security? AMD has been at the helm of bankruptcy since 2007 yet those issues are minor. Is Intel another Nokia in the making?

I think he meant that AMD didn't have one out at the time of buying his last PC... many people who bought fancy CPUs 1-2 years ago probably wish they'd waited for a Ryzen for a variety of reasons.

Many of these new vulnerabilities require that the attacker has high level access to the target machine, so it must already be compromised in some way. Ultimately I think the importance of network level security is going to increase.

I don't think "BranchScope" is snappy enough.
    How about 'DisasterLake' or LeakyBridge'?
Be interesting to see what names the guys at CTS Labs come up with for this one...

Cue having to tell all of our Customers again that "no, your Firewalls are no less secure than before. This malicious code has to run on the box, it cannot be injected over the network. A malicious third party would have to first compromise your firewall to run this exploit and even then you'd have bigger problems than this".

Thanks Intel, I should bill you for my phone time!

He was saying when he needed a new pc he wanted AMD to have decent chips out, this time last year if he was needing a PC AMD wouldn't of had anything worth having.

Waiting for quantum chips, so they can be unsecure and secure at the same time.
Grab that. Get that. Check it out. Bring that here. Grab anything useful. Take anything good.

i doubt intel didnt know about these issues, they just wanted to win the competition, intel lost more than 35% performance due to security patches, they still lead in single thread performance but imagine if this was the case 5-6 years ago, then it wouldn't be that much of a gap between them and AMD at that time.

Intel is known for their lying and shady practices, so i wouldnt be surprised if they sacrificed security for performance.
