AMD Ryzen 7 2700X and Ryzen 5 2600X spotted in retail listings

Unfortunately it looks like AMD can't control their OEM's (or retailers?) again. Sales will suffer if Intel's 8700k is selling for $339 and AMD's is going for $420+. That's nearly a $100. AMD needs to start threatening Tiger Direct etc (or the company selling to Tiger direct, Synnex, Ingram Micro, ASI etc), for amping up prices. If you don't charge AT or BELOW MSRP you won't get Zen2 chips for 6 months to a year. Problem solved. Somebody else will be more than happy to charge appropriately and TAKE that money if you refuse to follow the rules and we ban your company from buying our product Would you like to have your customers only be able to purchase Intel when AMD has a pretty good alternative that many actually want? Tell that to your shareholders. "well, we were trying to rip people off above MSRP, kind of like what happens at xbox launches etc on ebay, but it backfired and AMD is no longer selling us their cpus, we're sorry shareholders" ...Stock price plummet on Company X in 3...2...1...ROFL.

The highest pricing in those leaks is equivalent to US$370, which is the leaked MSRP for the 2700X, and is the same MSRP as an i7 8700k. At current exchange rates, taking VAT into account, a $370 MSRP should translate to ~ £320 at retail in the UK, which is ... less than you can buy an i7 8700k for today (scan/ebuyer).

The Ryzen 5 2600 looks good at $199. Retailers better sell through the 1600 quickly.

Just noticed it's got a Wraith Stealth cooler. It looks like a 6 core/12 thread on 12nm doesn't need the Spire cooler.

As I said, I'd already taken VAT into account - at current mid-market rates $370 is around £265. Historically there's often been an upwards "correction" for the UK market, but Ryzen processors have actually bucked that trend and hit UK retail at almost exactly the mid-market conversion + VAT. I see no reason to assume that the 2nd gen will be priced differently.

BTW,Amazon pricing on the Core i7 8700K is only £304 - in fact they seem to be dropping the price of all the CFL CPUs,so I suspect not only is Ryzen+ coming soon,but it might be better than expected??

Hardly surprising, they've been out a few months now and didn't really make any progress over SKL/KBL in IPC terms - a higher clocked Ryzen with IPC improvements is going to close the gap. Plus AFAIK there's still no chipset options for CFL? So you've got the additional cost of a Z-series chipset, whereas Ryzen 2 will drop in to many A320/B350 motherboards with a BIOS update?

Yeah, if I was Intel I'd be snipping my MSRPs too....

The motherboards are stupidly overpriced - one of the reasons I had a good moan about the stupid cosmetic padding of boards. I remember do a mates build with a decentish Z97 mini-ITX board for something like £80,IIRC,and now the equivalent Z370 one is between £135 to £140. Whats more annoying is that you cannot use faster RAM on the B series boards either.
