Excellent, another to add to the list of things that the eternally seething Dad's Army have ruined.

Why would you want to travel abroad, anyway? We've already seen, through Ewan and Charley, how everywhere in the world looks like Scotland...

The meaning of temporary in "stay temporarily in another EU country" will be tricky, especially for sports broadcasts, as otherwise football fans will sign up for cheap subscriptions when on holiday elsewhere, then make a "short" 50 week visit back to their home country and continue watching cheap games.
Re: EU streaming service portability rules come into effect on Sunday
I would imagine the country that payments originate from would prevent that in most cases, not that it matters for UK residents as we're unshackling ourselves from all this red-tape. ;)

You're also clearly unshackled from the benefits, but sure. ;-)
Re: EU streaming service portability rules come into effect on Sunday
At the moment we're not unshackled from any EU red tape, and won't be for some years. Even then, all existing tape is go be imported, and we'll unshackle only when Parliament says so.
As for benefits of being out versus benefits of staying in, there be some of the former, and yes, lose some of the latter, but as the trade terms haven't even begun to be discussed yet, and as Messrs Tusk and Barnier keep stressing, "nothing is agreed until everything is agreed", then mobody, and by that I mean absolutely nobody knows what the quantification of either benefits of bring in lost, or of getting out gained, will prove to be. Not Barnier, not Davis, not May or Merkel, not all the economists and think-tanks on the planet.
Most of them are very good at giving opinions, but you only have to look at how accurate most Treasury, IMF etc short-term predictions in known situations are (variously wrong, to badly wrong, to dire) to have a pretty good idea about the reliability of long term predictions, in an utterly unique situation. In other words, the best time to use these is last thing after standing up, and just before flushing.

It will be interesting to see if our wireless networks, will stick to having no roaming charges as mandated by current EU law,etc if you go into Europe or whether they try and back out of it. Only 3 actually didn't need any prompting to abolish charges to the EU and several countries worldwide. The rest were forced into removing roaming and were quite happy to charge silly money.

It's not like 3 is also under investigation by OFCOM for traffic shaping when roaming, up to a point of uselessness. I have been to Spain and Latvia, and 3 is useless, throttling traffic to under 1KB/s while guy next to me with same local "mobile internet provider" has over 5mbps connection. I restart phone, internet works for 30 seconds and then "dies" again. -_- The only thing that works is sms and calling.

It could be worse,I remember a few years EE had mast issues(which IIRC,was partly down to them trying to consolidate things) and when I got fed up of literally having no proper data connection for days,I complained in a local store, and then they tried to say none of their services were "guaranteed",which was apparently them saying we can charge you money but provide no service in the UK. Hilarious.
Plus at least 3 allow people to use free roaming outside Europe even for calls and texts in many countries:
http://www.three.co.uk/Support/Roami...ons#countries2
I looked at EE roaming charges and they are ridiculous,to the extent its easier to buy a local SIM even if its to receive calls,as you get charged between £1 to £2 a minute to just RECEIVE a call.
I suspect 3 will still allow free roaming even after leaving the EU,but EE,Vodaphone, etc I am not so sure,as they needed to be forced kicking and screaming to do it. Then you look at local pricing and realise the "roaming charge" is essentially a giant con.
Edit!!
What I find most annoying is many of these companies have worldwide operations,so basically even if you are still probably using their network(or one run by one of their affiliates),you are paying them twice essentially.
Re: EU streaming service portability rules come into effect on Sunday
This is not a benfit for the EU people, it is preparation for when they abolish all the individual countries and make the EU a single state. Once all the pro-EU political parties start getting direct funding from the EU and the poplations have all become miniorites to the 'refugees' there wont be much left to distinguish one country from another. I bet it wont be long before they have a vote on a single EU language like they did in the USA in 1795. Maybe this time Germany will finally win something
