What a great idea! Will this shaver attachment snap onto a regular phone?
Re: Black Shark teases its gaming phone ahead of 13th April launch
Does the world really need a "gaming phone"? So they took a Galaxy S8/S9+ and stuck a controller on the end of it. Xiaomi makes it. One of the most no-name brands out there, so I can't imagine the quality will be anywhere worth buying.

Yes it darn well does... but then, it also needs games that are good to play on a phone. Most of thems what are out there are utterly abysmal anyway.

Xiaomi is the worlds 4th largest phone manufacturer and makes some very good quality phones, for example the Mi Mix 2s.
They are probably the best bang for buck OEM out there.

Gaming Phone...... lol
Who the hell would pay more to play angry birds or some other 20 year old looking game on a phone?
I wonder about people that buy phones they need locking up for there own good I swear.

Personally i don't think it does... Then again maybe those young people walking around with their heads in their phones like bumping into lamp posts. :)
Re: Black Shark teases its gaming phone ahead of 13th April launch
Does the world need a gaming phone? Probably not. Are there people in the world who would like a gaming phone? Quite possibly.
I have an Android gaming "tablet" (a proper cheap one) that's not much bigger than many phones. It's several years old, was a long way off top of the range even then, and it's a very usable gaming handheld. There's plenty of companies doing mobile phone games using standard controls emulated on a touch screen, without even considering console emulation, so I suspect there's a small but lucrative market for a device that's multi-purpose but optimised for playing games...

Xiaomi a no-name brand? Where have you been living? They're considered China's "Apple". They pretty much kickstarted the current bezel-less craze with the Mi Mix about two years ago. Make of that what you will, but rest assured that many people in the western hemisphere are eagerly awaiting for Xiaomi's products to get regular availability (as in: no grey market imports) here.
All that being said, I'm not keen on the "gaming" aspect and the add-on looks positively hideous.
And I can see Wh00pS beat me to defending Xiaomi. :)
Re: Black Shark teases its gaming phone ahead of 13th April launch
playing final fantasy on my mobile has been great but it kills the battery.
would a gaming phone with more emphasis on active cooling help keep battery temps low and thus prolong it's life?
Re: Black Shark teases its gaming phone ahead of 13th April launch
But...what about the most important question if this is a "gaming" phone.
How many LEDs does it have?

Because at the end of the day, it’s just a pimped up Android phone.

PUBG runs better on my phone than most PCs. Fortnite runs amazingly well on Apple phones. Nintendo has Mario Kart on the way to phones. Lots of Final Fantasy games have come to the platforms. The age of "playing some dumb puzzle game on the way to work" is over.

And the age of playing dumbed-down PC/console games on a tiny screen, while killing my battery so that I have to charge the phone at every possible opportunity has arrived.....let me try and contain my excitement

Hopefully its more the case that these games will support a docked mode as that we really have more portal gaming machines like the switch. I can't speak for fortnite but PUBG mobile is every bit a full-fat game which actually has slightly more functionality than it's PC counterpart. It runs well on a phone but is a poor experience because of tiny screens. If however you connect it to your TV, plug in a keyboard/mouse setup..and it runs like a dream.
So whilst this phone is a bit of a joke and a bit pointless, the principle behind "gaming phones" that can dock is a good one that i hope is expanded.

Gosh, so much hate on this thread...
Yes, depending on different contexts and different people lives, there is a market for gaming phones.
Some people don't need a PC or have time for playing it (same for "fixed" gaming consoles).
Some people don't need laptops.
Some people are casual gamers and find no benefit on buying a smartphone + a portable gaming console (or a high end tablet).
By the way, you are a little misinformed about mobile games... it has moved on from Angry Birds and Flappy Bird era you know...
Re: Black Shark teases its gaming phone ahead of 13th April launch
I own a Nintendo Switch, looks pretty same but anyways I am a big Xiaomi fan so I will get one ^_^
