Mine was - just - the ~ £270 I spent on an 8800 GTX back in January 2008, but it's a close run thing with the £265 I spent on a 15" TFT monitor in 2004. I think the next most I've spent on something personally is less than half that amount, and I've built whole computers for significantly less!

Not sure this counts, but I remember spending around NZ$100 on the adapter/kempston joystick for the Spectrum 48k - spending my entire life savings up to that point on it. Blew it up y accident a week or two later by removing it without turning off the power. Bitter memory. Feel a tear coming...

About £170 on a graphics card. I usually buy a mid range card when they drop below the £200 mark.

Bought a pair of original Titans (EVGA) for SLi. Just over £900 each before the water cooling blocks. Still have them sat in my cupboard if anyone wants them!

Re: QOTW: What's the most you've spent on a single PC component?

£480 on my 1080 mini last year. Well, I say £480, minus amazon vouchers and profit made on selling my rx580 to a miner my cash outlay was £80.

About £330 (iirc) on my monitor bought about the same time, had to pay all that but it was worth it.
Grab that. Get that. Check it out. Bring that here. Grab anything useful. Take anything good.
