Coil whine isn’t necessarily a problem, but if the noise from three lots of whine is really annoying you, then you either have to accept it (perhaps go on an anger management course) or replace the card now.

However, I do accept that constant whining can be irritating.

well smart is buying what you need and not paying more than you have to for it. I still have a gtx460. it is fine for my needs and whisper quiet. My usage has not required any improvement since. I have therefore saved approx £1500 on the three upgrades I might have done in that period had exciting enough new games come out to truly tempt me. but they haven't, and my legacy games run just fine, as do my sound editing and photo editing suite. even cad copes. £1500 in my pocket and not just chasing after the latest and greatest? personally I consider that smart, but to each their own.
