You know what that means! More companies will be using this version of windows limiting more space on the Laptops and Computers! But hopefully the price would be lower so you could use this for stuff like browsing the web and stuff

Any clue on the bloat removed? 2Gb is quite a lot... If its Candy crush and other junk apps (like People/xbox) i'd prefer it on my main PC!

Not sure I want to lose regedit if I'm honest but the rest I could probably live without and it does make you wonder how much more streamlined (and faster/more efficient) windows could be if they just got rid of most of the junk no body except the 'nerds' use from the main install and just had them available as downloads instead.

Yes I missed that. I'm sure you could grab regedit from somewhere. IE, regedit and a few wallpapers still doesn't equal 2Gb though. Thinking about I'd really be happy if Cortana was missing!

Thanks mtyson. Looks like a real mixed bag. Based on a quick of look into file names, it appears to be most of the 'apps' are gone (i.e. xbox, solitaire, people, skype etc) but also some useful stuff like MediaPlayer (or at least part of it), msinfo and bits of Windows Defender. Also got Powershell removed but this can be installed easily enough.

I'd have preferred it if this stuff was made available via windows features so you can add back the stuff you need but its still a good start. Still tempted to use it on my main PC!

All that junk gone , I would actually pay for a new license to use that over win 10 pro.

What happens when 'nerds' have to fix your PC? At that point it is broken so you probably can't just download those rarely used tools.

If Windows is a well written operating system, then the existence of unused programs and dlls on your storage device should make absolutely no difference to machine performance. Heck, even unused bits of programs won't be paged into ram.

I presume this is another attempt at the ChromeOS market. If a machine breaks, just re-image it which is quick as stuff is stripped out.

I bet they could make it even more lean by stripping out all the "telemetry" code.

I feel a reinstall is needed. Any useful programs like regedit can be added back on.

From my disinterested (non-user) perspective, this is either a good thing, or bad, dependjng on two criteria :-

a) what they stripped out, and
b) what they didn't strip out.

Furtunately, as a non-user, I don't care enough to bother looking.

Good old Microsoft, leave all the telemetry in there, take out the ability to install every day programs; bravo.

I'm sure that will come if they make the lean version more mainstream.

I'd love a checkbox to remove all the modern UI and return to windows 7 style...
