German IT distributor shares AMD and Intel 2018 CPU roadmaps

AMD spills include a 2nd-gen Threadripper, on the Intel side an octa-core CFL part is seen.

I wonder what new chipset features would be added on the AMD side, they already seem pretty feature rich so would it just be more.

    <crossed fingers>5GbE networking?

10GbE still seems stupidly expensive for something that is no faster than the USB ports that are now commonplace. We know AMD have the IP as it is in their ARM chips.

Z490 seems to be a lot better...

At last a date set for B450 motherboards. I'm keen to pick up an ITX one with HDMI 2.0 for a new HTPC build.

I look forward to finding out why they're bothering to launch Z490. B450 launch will be good too, it'll drop the price of a full-enabled 2000 ryzen CPU

Don't think that's the main issue - the extra lanes meaning 2 m.2 drives can work nicely is the biggest benefit I reckon

Extra pcie lanes seems to be what the 490 is bringing to the table. Reviewers have noticed that you can't have 2 x m.2 slots working well for example and that should solve that issue along with a nice fast gpu. Horses for courses as always but a fully featured desktop system without going Threadripper is a bit easier to achieve I guess with 490

    It's in the pipeline:

    CAS latency of 42 though!
