If a company like this is so hard up after seeing our browsing habits........... then sure try adding adverts and see how the numbers of users go down.
Chances are they already do this but admitting to the fact is another thing it gives them free rein.

Are there really that many companies who'd sponsor Mozilla 'just because'? Would they have to up the prices of other, paid softwares?

Microsoft should sponsor them to have Bing as the default search engine now that Google has withdrawn Edge isn't really taking off.

Try this:-

Type about:config in the location bar.
You'll see a message that says “This might void your warranty!” ...
In the Search box at the top, type pocket.enabled. ...
Double click on this information to set the value to “false”.
The Pocket button will no longer appear in your Address Bar or the Library menu.

Why doesn't Mozilla realise that most (firefox) users don't want this junk adding, we want a lean streamlined browser that performs well, doesn't track us and is PURELY a web browser, not the 'gateway' to something I have no interest in or I can just set as a bookmark...

We shouldn't need to keep having to go into the about:config or downloading add ons just to get rid of all the rubbish that the dev's are wasting time on....that time could be better spent on making firefox lighter and faster etc.

If Chrome was as easy to block autoplay in flash or HTML5 as Firefox and also natively brought new tabs to the front, I would switch immediately !

Just don't install Flash - it's not needed any more. If it is uninstall the player - sorted. Sure there's an extension to bring the tab to the front as well

This isn't a problem. I see google ads ALL OVER THE INTERNET, even when I'm using Safari or any other browser. Having Pocket-suggested content in the new tab page only is, like, the dream. I wish Firefox users didn't have such a loud and petty internet reputation.

I mean this sums it up for me, I used Firefox for years with no issue, then slowly over time it just got slower. Now I'm using Chrome, still get to use adblock plus, ublock origin, ghostery etc. Can't say I'm missing Firefox, it was becoming frustrating for me to use.

Makes me even happier that I switched to Waterfox ...and practically without effort at that. Keep "legacy" add-ons *and* avoid "sponsored content" (read: ads)? Seems like a winner to me.

The new engine from FF57 onwards is signficantly faster.

As for the 'sponsored content' stuff, I really don't begrudge the occasional advert in my preferred browser, particularly given Mozilla's non-profit ethos. I'd far rather that than an ad-free browser from faceless corporations like Google or Microsoft. But that's just me...
