QOTM (Question of the Moment): Who's Nexus? This is HEXUS!

And to answer HEXUS' actual QOTW: Definitely not, for various reasons already well expressed previously by others in this thread.
HEXUS you obviously failed in breaking through 'Wrinkly's' real world filter while he continues to while his time away browsing randomly on the 'web'. !!!

Maybe you need to make the HEXUS Logo BIGGER and with flashing lights and Thumping Music, just for the people who are physically here ONLY while their brain 'flatlines' somewhere/when else.

    Nice one.

But for many acts, it unfortunately comes with a screen for pictures, too.

Best TV for Eurovision, both speakerless and screenless, is known as a wall.

It's probably the only thing that would get me to watch football is if the only alternative was Eurovision .... and I was chained to a bolted down chair, facing the screen, with my eyelids stapled open.

Why, fancy our chances of winning this year?
Probably about the same odds as England winning the world cup.

Re: QOTW: Are you buying a new TV for the World Cup?

Yes, I will. But I'll be getting one because I don't have a TV at the moment and have been planning to get one, the world cup just gives me even more reason to do so. I've been wanting a TV that I can game on and watch content in 4K and now that 4K TVs with HDR are affordable, might as well pull the trigger. Most likely I'll be getting an LG 43UJ630V http://www.lg.com/uk/tvs/lg-43UJ630V
4K, HDR, Smart, 60Hz, low latency.

Touché! I forgot about the many various classless acts that are both visually and acoustically offensive to the senses. Honestly it's been so long since I've seen it, the only time I catch wind of its content is when it seeps out into the press. Needless to say, I'm not convinced it has improved in any way at all.

Very few people who read/comment on Hexus, apparently I rather suspect that, as with most of these things, it's people who already want a new TV using whatever the current appropriate event is to justify their purchase...

Oh hells no! I almost needed a new phone last night though - mine very nearly went out of the window from the frustration of trying to find a non-Eurovision tweet in my stream....

As to the QOTW, I reckon spending ~ £1 per minute of event that you'll watch on a new TV is probably a justified expense, so I imagine I'll be spending almost exactly .... £0 on a new TV for the football world cup

To be fair, if you want a TV then there seem to be bargains to be had atm. I might not like football, but if it saved me some money on a purchase buy buying in some season I don't really understand then I wouldn't complain. As long as I don't have to go around shouting the likes of "Goal!" a lot though, I have my limits

Re: QOTW: Are you buying a new TV for the World Cup?

I've just recently upgraded from an old 1440x900 monitor. I don't think I will be buying a new TV anytime soon or for the World cup.

Buuut I will be streaming it on my new monitor . I don't the 10 second or so delay behind satellite TV to be a pain, although I have seen many others complain about that.

I'd rather gouge my eyes out with sugar spoons and desert forks than even watch a minute of it. If it was on every channel every hour of everyday I would be giving the TV away. No I'd PAY for someone to take it away. I wonder if Captain Pugwash is on reruns.

So I guess thats a 'no' then?

On reflection, the wording of the question might have been improved on the lines of:

"Will you be buying an Iphone X or other Apple product for the ultimate experience watching the football world cup this year?"

Now that would have generated some contributions

So would I. If I was in the market for a new TV (which I'm not, unless the current one goes toes up) and the right set was available at the right price, then I'd buy now too. But not "for the World Cup" which, of course, was the question asked.

This. I might have very well taken advantage of the competitive pricing the world cup seems to provide at TV retailers but I wouldn't be buying it for the world cup.

And I say that as someone who will be watching it.

Re: QOTW: Are you buying a new TV for the World Cup?

Don't follow football, so the short answer for me is no.
I've spent so much money on tech over the years, and have now changed my ways. When the TV breaks it will get replaced, I will research it, and will choose a model wisely (I hope!)

There's only one world cup I watch and that involves an oval shaped ball! - And even then I wouldn't update my TV just to watch it!

Re: QOTW: Are you buying a new TV for the World Cup?

Well, seeing as the World Cup is one of the reserved events of sport, and has to be on terrestrial, and neither BBC nor ITV transmit anything 1080p yet, let alone 4k, I don't think it would be worth it, "for the World Cup", but otherwise as people have said before, a good time to buy something if you were looking anyway. Only thing is, what seems to be discounted is the lower end stuff, which doesn't do HDR or WCG very well, which for me is the main point in upgrading.
Besides, I've kind of gone off watching England, but if I were going to watch them, I would use the money I haven't spent on a new telly on getting blind drunk in the pub, which is the only way I find the games entertaining these days.
Also, I got a new 4k telly about 18 months ago, and I haven't gone past the wife's NTU, which is the well known SI unit, the New Telly Unit, currently about 6 or 7 years.
