What kalniel said, welcome to Hexus. :clapping:
Is it? I thought both GDDR and DDR have stayed pretty constant in terms of latency once you do the PITA maths to compensate for clock frequency, besides GDDR isn't really about latency, it's more about throughput as unlike DDR typically you're shifting big lumps of data in and out rather than lots of small random accesses.

Well there must be some reason people are buying Vega cards at the inflated prices. Cheapest I have seen recently is: https://www.overclockers.co.uk/power...gx-193-pc.html
There were 9 in stock yesterday morning and 3 in stock this morning at the £500 price point, an amount that can comfortably buy you a GTX 1080. If you don't need 1080 performance, a 1070 starts around £350. So despite the crippling price disadvantage against Nvidia cards in gaming, just that one card shifted £3000 worth of stock from overclockers yesterday.
Unless there are lots of people out there who are *really* interested in AI.

It looks like the consumer cards are delayed due to Nvidia having excess inventory problems:

People wanted gaming GPUs to go back to reasonable prices, but they also dont want to jump on old tech when it feels like Nvidia are about to release something better. $500-700 is a lot of freaking money, so its no surprise there is 300 000 people savvy enough to hold off for a while.
