Re: Average UK household gets half the advertised broadband speed
I thinks that whatever service which is using is flawed. My speed test app on my phone shows 160Mbps whereas the Which test only says I have 90Mbps. I know looking at my recent download speeds what I am getting.
Paying for 150Mbps and I don't feel like I am being underprovided.
Re: Average UK household gets half the advertised broadband speed
Think that which test is a bit borked. Compared to Ookla anyway.
I pay for 52mb and get 70+/nearly20. Which says a bit more but with a latency that's well out.
That's over powerline adapters btw. The old laptop downstairs only does 40+ over wifi but that's down to hardware not provided speed.
Re: Average UK household gets half the advertised broadband speed
Talk Talk have been a pain for Broadband with constant problems. Since we have moved to fibre *touch wood* there hasn't been any major issues. One issue we had was with the ISP supplied router being poor. They sent out a different model and has been fine ever since. I think we have a days (12 hrs or so) downtime within the last 5 months.
So cant complain too much. Pay for 40mbs down and 2mbs down (Upgraded to 10mbs for free) Speedtest from upstairs at the back of the house with a "High gain" Wifi antenna gives me just shy of 34Mbs down and 9.40Mbs up so I'm quite happy . http://www.speedtest.net/result/7325910566
