Seconded on both counts, and I'd add Theme Park as another Bullfrog game that is enjoyable to revisit.

Sonic 2 (as well as various other games that are part of the Megadrive packs on Steam) is one that's always great to revisit too, as well as Crazy Taxi.

Uplink is another one that comes to mind.

Oh, and if it counts - Command & Conquer, via OpenRA.

I have not played Super Mario Kart on the SNES in a very long time, and would like to again. I do have N64 Mario cart and have re-played that more than a few times since I bought the console new. But I do recall thinking that the SNES version had better replay feel to it, even though the graphics was only 16bit

There was something special about Super Mario Kart. I refuse to acknowledge the existence of any other versions of it.

Heroes of might and magic III! I genuinely still play it semi-regularly. Also Supreme Commander, is that considered 'old' now? It seems to be strategy games that survive the test of time.

Re: QOTW: Which old video games do you still play?

Haven't played it for a while now, but I have the NES version of Elite loaded on an emulator on my Android gaming tablet. I believe Ian Bell reckoned it was technically the best version of Elite they ever released (certainly the mapping of elite's complex controls onto a 2 button controller is technically impressive and actually works really well).

Otherwise, the game I *still* drop the most time into on a monthly basis is Neverwinter Nights, which is rapidly approaching its sixteenth birthday...

The only classic game I am still playing is Blockout (3D Tetris clone).

Been playing its various incarnations for 25+ years.

I've bought a lot of old games on GoG, which I go back and play occasionally, like Fallout, Fallout 2, DOOM, Wolfenstein 3D, Battle Chess, Battle Isle, Betrayal At Krondor, Lords of Midnight (which I first played on the good old Amstrad CPC), and Panzer General II.

Monkey Island. That was a real banger in its day. I play the odd point and click now and again like this and Full Throttle, but its amazing how much of the old formula is still in muscle memory so interest doesn't last too long as you whizz through it.

Like many others GOG is the main source for nostalgia. I play the original Dungeon Keeper and Deeper Dungeons from time to time. Also Cannon Fodder, Return to Castle Wolfenstein, Crysis, Freelancer, Mirror's Edge and Darwinia

    That's it. Monkey Island.

Thsnks for that. It was one of those 'worm' things that got in my head and was driving ne nuts. If I was at home I'd have had to check the box but as I'm not, I couldn't.

My main source of nostalgia, though, is a bloomjng great pile of boxes. GOG for some, sure, but mainly, my own games.

Wow another banger in its day on the 3dfx. I remember just watching the flyby on the title screen.

Edit: just nabbed Unreal Gold off GOG.... brought back some memories but not aged particularly well

Nope but I can get it to run well on any of the hardware I have here. Even some integrated stuff! So it can be fired up for like a 10 min session

Re: QOTW: Which old video games do you still play?

I can't play old games. I remember the feeling and fun playing them at the time, it wouldn't be the same for me.

I think it's even one reason I didn't play Elite Dangerous for long. It was starting to ruin my memories of Elite so I kicked it into touch.

Each to their own though. I may be just a bit odd.
Grab that. Get that. Check it out. Bring that here. Grab anything useful. Take anything good.
