If it's fake, does that mean that Nvidia / a partner has released it to attempt to convince customers to do something, or that someone has just released it for the chaotic fun?

Re: Nvidia partner email points to 30th Aug GTX 1180 release

Ah I wish Nvidia would just release some damn information.. generally desperate for a new GPU for work, but not gonna waste masses of money on a 1080ti, for a new one only to release shortly after.. so annoying. Really hoping they release some information next month.

On the Internet there are plenty of people who just want to watch the world burn.

Content does not read well. Do Nvidia really have to justify why the next gen cards are delayed? Looks very fake to me.

I do hope the GTX1180 causes general GTX1060/RX580/GTX570 pricing to fall - it still not quite recovered yet!

Looks more like a distributor type of email, not something from Nvidia themselves.

Re: Nvidia partner email points to 30th Aug GTX 1180 release

What's a "1180+"? Higher clock version of the 1180? Definitely can't be the Ti version, too soon.....

Makes me suspicious that the news could be fake!

My interpretation was partner boards with factory OC. They probably want their own founder edition boards to have a period of no competition so they're actually a viable purchase for a bit.

Re: Nvidia partner email points to 30th Aug GTX 1180 release

Since both the 1180 and 1170 will likely be way out of my reach in terms of price, I'll be most interested in the 30th October launch date for 1160. Hopefully it is at least heading towards 1070Ti performance... anything less would be a bit disappointing.

Re: Nvidia partner email points to 30th Aug GTX 1180 release

I was initially thinking this would drop 10's by alot but there are a load of 1050 cards out there so I think the only drop will be the 1080 cards by about £200... Waiting to buy a 1060 at the moment but i don't want to pay £200+, be nice to see that at £100

I have been waiting for the new cards to come along for a good few months now and seeing that has made me more determined to wait as I am not going to pay £240 for a 2 year old card (gtx1060). But if said card was to be adjusted to 170 - 180 I could be tempted. I am not going to hold my breath as I want to be about for the release of the new cards.

Re: Nvidia partner email points to 30th Aug GTX 1180 release

Aye, I've looked about and there has been no movement on prices. Retailers certainly don't seem to care that much whether this news is real or not. Keep up that fleecin'!

Part of me thinks that the mining craze solidified prices and expectations of both the consumer and the manufacturers in terms of margins to be made and as a result there's significant inertia stopping any real downwards movement. It's going to take a big event, such as a new card release, to drive down prices. Supply and demand seems to work fine when demand is high, but now they're overstocked and there's oversupply for the demand, the prices are being kept high. Funny that. Reminds me of petrol.
