I used my 10" Netbook like this without any problems. This would be awesome!!
I also HATE tablets and their touchscreen keyboards.. and yes I know you can get all manner of cases and things with physical keyboards built in, but that just defeats the point of having a single form factor that just works fine without needed more money spent on extras.

Reading on Reddit, etc the original Pocket was actually OK with a bit of light Photoshop,Lightroom, etc and with basic tasks some have reported 15 to 20 hours battery life.
The new one is significantly faster as it uses the CPU from the entry level Surface Pro 12.1" tablet.
Basically it is quick enough to multi-task like a lower end laptop, unlike the Atom based ones which seem to bog down very quickly.
Edit!!
Review of the older Atom based one:

It seems viable for a bit of Photoshop, but the new one has a Kaby Lake based CPU.It is fantastic to have in a small waist bag your smartphone, charger/power bank, wallet and a full Windows / Ubuntu PC combined with the wall charger, a USB 3 Lan adapter, a retractable UTP cable and a small Bluetooth mouse.
This.

It makes me wonder what can be done 7NM/10NM TBH! Mebbe able to get a non-Atom class 4C/4T ULV CPU in that!!

That is the older model, which is slightly larger in size too! The CPU/RAM combo is similar to the Macbook 12" but in a smaller package.

As a former OQO owner (remember them?) I really want one of these and I've backed the campaign
Reminds me a bit of Paul Allen's Vulcan Flipstart.
Until I recently got a Surface Pro, I've been using netbooks and their successors (Toshiba Click Mini) out and about when I don't want to carry a lot of stuff. This looks great.
Another cool device - Right up there with the OpenPandora, Psion series and so on. The Imovio iKit was another cool looking thing.
I think I even saw a Flipstart (or something similar) being used in one of the Expendables films...
Edit: I could be wrong...

I saw and went "yeh I want". Then I realised nah I have no need and it'll just collect dust. My Macbook Air started showing signs of dying on my yesterday and I quickly came to the conclusion that buying another laptop just wouldn't be sensible. Best thing for me to do would be to invest in a better keyboard for my tablet for the occasions there I do need that kind of functionality.
As Ttaskmaster said by the time you add all the extra bits you are not saving any space anymore.
The iPad Pro is limited by one single port for everything so you would need a port expander and a keyboard so it's not really that weight saving. The Surface is more practical but again all the extra bits add weight. Both are hardly that small in size,ie,essentially the surface area is comparable to subnotebooks, although the Surface Pro has looked one of the better compromises TBH.
The other tablets are glorified smartphones with a bigger screen,as they have weak CPUs.
It was like people talking about smartphone cameras and how they were better certain cameras due to size, weight, etc then I pointed out all the extra accessories people carry with them which adds to weight like lenses, etc.
It reminds of the Asus transformer - had mates who were doing actual work with them and they all ended up getting laptops instead. But unlike the many fail keyboards for many newer tablets,at least the "keyboard" increased battery life.
Plus why bother with a tablet when you can use your phone now especially if there is no need for keyboards? Screens on phones are getting bigger and bigger. They have essentially destroyed the smaller tablet market.

There was an OQO in Mission Impossible III; if Ethan had to rely on it for hacking anything, he'd have been dead as the VIA C7 CPU wasn't up to much

It's an eee 701 form factor (more or less). Had an ASUS transformer Pad and while it was okay, Android (at the time, even on Cyanogen) wasn't great for tablets and a keyboard. At least this runs a full desktop OS.
I don't particularly use my laptop for anything more than web browsing and occasional word processing / office stuff. That means a tablet is more than enough for me. If you're planning on doing any serious work requiring any amount of computational grunt, then it's a totally useless solution. My perspective on this is therefore as follows - anywhere I'd be taking the laptop, I'd probably be taking the tablet as well. The tablet does very nearly everything I demand of the laptop and quite a lot more (Amazon integration - I have music, films and books on it). As a result, I might as well save space / weight by just taking the tablet and the small keyboard. Saves you the laptop charger as well. I'm ever so slightly crippled and so saving that weight is pretty useful for me.
I absolutely get that if you're planning on manipulating images, handling large documents, need x86 software, etc then this is not the solution for you. That said, for those applications I'd be seriously considering whether the small screen would be a major issue.
As for using the phone rather than a tablet - I do. The tablet is better for longer term use but for quick stuff, the phone does the job just fine.
