Re: Nvidia to reveal "spectacular surprises" ahead of Gamescom

I have to admit, I'm a little bit "Meh" about this as it feels Nvidia are rushing to market something that appeared to be shelved while they cashed in on mining and now mining has crashed and they're out of pocket it seems to me it's "Oh crap, we need to do something ASAP".

But, it will be nice to have something new for once!

Doesn't say much, the FX 5000 series was "spectacular"

I hope the "spectacular surprises" are more reasonable pricing structures, but I'm prepared to be disappointed.

Hopefully the spectacular surprises are not a bunch of high prices!

    It rhymes!

Lol didn't Jensen state that they wouldn't be available for quite some time, not that long ago?

Re: Nvidia to reveal "spectacular surprises" ahead of Gamescom

Why do i get the feeling their idea of a spectacular surprise is not the same as mine, mine would be them saying how their no longer going to market different varieties of the same model, that their going to put more effort into not misleading customers, that their going to support Freesync, that their going to dial back on the anti-competitive and anti-consumer moves, that we're going to see lower prices.

Their idea of a spectacular surprise is probably the release of the 11 series, that's not spectacular as new products always follow old ones and it's not surprising as rumors have been circulating for what seems like forever.

"the festivities continue on Tuesday at 10am, and run clear through to 5pm"

Tuesday is Gamescom's "Press Day", the public can't attend unless they've won the "wildcard raffle" for the right to buy tickets for Tuesday.

Unless they mean a 10-5 livestream on Tuesday?

Re: Nvidia to reveal "spectacular surprises" ahead of Gamescom

Spectacular would be a 1170 back at the traditional x70 pricing: < £300. With enough step up on performance to comfortably run 4K games on high settings and high fps (or varying of that). With SLI support, natch.

I currently have two 970 in SLI. Apart from the RAM ceiling keeping 4K away, it gives me 1080ish performance.

*roaring laughter and slapping of thighs streaming tears and asphyxiating due to laughing too much*

But I agree, that would be pretty damn spectacular.

That might have been when they realised they had a lot of 10 series to sell first

Re: Nvidia to reveal "spectacular surprises" ahead of Gamescom

Stop talking nonsense. He's said it will be a "spectacular surprise." Everyone is expecting a new card and as a result the only way this will be a "surprise" is if they're not releasing one, which will certainly have "spectacular" results.

Really, why bother? Keep it in reserve until AMD come out with something new. Shaft customers further, we're getting used to it now.

EDIT: The nonsense comment was a joke, please don't take anything I ever say seriously.
