Re: Mozilla Firefox gets GPU page rendering acceleration
Since Mozilla dropped XUL in Firefox and opted to be more like another Chrome knock off my interest in the regular Firefox development has waned considerably.
To paraphrase Dr. Eldon Tyrell: "More Chrome than Chrome is our motto."

But it isn't like Chrome. It uses its own render engine and UI (despite Chrome's recent attempt to seemingly look more like Firefox.)
I don't understand the hate that dropping a depreciated plugin system for a newer one has caused.
Re: Mozilla Firefox gets GPU page rendering acceleration
I'm only going on what I've read but it seems some people feel Firefox has been aping some of Chromes design cues.

You don't understand why people don't like Mozilla dropping a much more powerful plugin system in favour of the ultra-restrictive WebExtensions (spearheaded by Google)?

Um... for one thing a fair few plugins are no longer supported, not every developer has been willing (or able) to make the changes needed to keep it functional. In some cases these plugins actually made life easier for the user, in my case I lost a plugin which would automatically close pop ups (can't find a replacement either) that were missed by the adblocker etc.
Re: Mozilla Firefox gets GPU page rendering acceleration
I really don't see Firefox looking more like Chrome (beyond the generic look all browsers have,) and as I said, the latest chrome almost looks like it's trying to be Firefox.
I also understand why those who use and create plugins that can't (as opposed to just won't,) be updated to the new system are annoyed, I just struggle to believe that so many use the rather niche subset of plugins.

These 'niche' plugins were part of the reason some/many used firefox over chrome, chrome didn't have support for them and now firefox is just 'doing the same' as chrome by only supporting webextensions.

"The Shape Detection API is actually a collection of three API functions; the Face Detection API, Barcode Detection API and Text Detection API. "
Maybe you should learn to read articles more properly. The preceding sentence before what you quoted says it all.
- Barcode/Text Detect --> So Google knows what content you are reading/viewing/browsing. Already in Android.
- FaceID for web authentication
