There doesn't seem to be anything that manufactures will not stick RGB on , it's getting ridiculous...

80 quid for a not-quite-rectangle of cloth, an aluminium plate and colourful lights. Yet another USB peripheral to plug in behind your PC.

I don't even use a regular mousemat (at least at work, preferred not to at home before scraping the last cheapo desk to bits) so maybe there's some bias, but this sounds like an exploitative way to tap into the poor RGB crowd.

Re: Cooler Master MP860 dual sided RGB mousemat launched

I have not used a mouse mat since the invention of the laser mouse, but if someone is so desperate to get as much RGB as possible, then there are actually far cheaper RGB mouse mats available than this.

How much would it annoy you if I mentioned that I'm using a mouse and RGB mousemat which cost £250? AND I LOVE IT.

I personally can't get enough of RGB!

£80 for some lights, atrocious thickness, another USB port used and you don't even have the possibility to swap or replace surfaces when they get worn out.

I mean, at least the Razer solution, although more expensive, have some benefits like a lighter and cordless mouse. This thing is just for looks?

RGB, when will it end. So ridiculous. Only for children. Christmas tree, etc etc etc...

I like how they've put it in solid colours, instead of stupid Rainbow Demo mode for once. With sensible decisions like this, RGB options might actually stand a chance.

How the hell peeps concentrate on what they are doing at their PC with a bloody disco going on amazes me, hope this craze fizzles out , just another excuse for marking up prices. We'll be getting RGB built into toilet pans next , quite fitting come to think of it. lol.

I don't understand this hate for RGB. There's still more than enough choice where you can choose items that don't have RGB on them, and nobody is forcing you to buy the RGB lights.

Re: Cooler Master MP860 dual sided RGB mousemat launched

I don't hate RGB itself, my rig actually has RGB strips, mobo, cooler, gpu etc. It looks nice when set to a decent static colour scheme on the internals (In my case the strips light up the case purple and everything else is set to blue, love it!).

That being said RGB components on the outside of a rig, for me, is just too distracting/ugly, pricey for what they are and are generally locked down in regards to syncing them together by whatever manufacturer you decided to go with first. RGB is nice when it is well thought out and balanced, but it's a bit of a hot mess when purchased and thrown together just for the sake of it being flashy and new.

That is all just my personal preference though, those who enjoy it can spend as much as they like on it and have their entire room looking like someone puked up a rainbow for all I care!

Re: Cooler Master MP860 dual sided RGB mousemat launched

I like the RGB on my keyboard, and the possibility to depending on the profile and game / app to have certain keys illuminate in a different colour. It is useful and helps me locate them easily. It servers a purpose.

I would really appreciate if someone can explain me what is the purpose of the illumination in this product.

We don't set it to Bloody Disco mode. We use it sensibly and pick static complimentary colours, maybe all one colour, or a range of patterns that work for us. That's the whole point of having millions of colours to choose from.

Kinda like saying you don't know how people live their lives with that blazing bright light up in the sky, really - Quite simply, it works and you get used to it.

Mine looks good, but you do have to find a manufacturer that designed it well... but the same is true of all features, from case windows to vents, to drive bays, to just about everything, really.
Most manufacturers' products will work fine with the main RGB control softwares, though - Asus, MSI, and whatever the third one was. In theory they'll work with other softwares too, like Corsair, but that depends more on the software maker than the RGB kit maker.

Primarily - The option to add a variety of colours and/or effects, if you so choose... and the option to change your mind as often as you like.

In my opinion, if it's not a wirelessly-charging mouse mat, it has no business being powered. If it's wirelessly charging your mouse anyway, go ahead and throw some RGB on it, why not?
