But a 20 per cent performance uplift requires 50 per cent more power.

Re: Der8auer overclocks a GeForce RTX 2080 using dry ice
I remember before the launch a lot of people (to be fair, the usual Nvidia fanboys on various sites) were claiming that 2.5GHz on air would be simple with this range.
Turns out that 2100MHz is the practical limit. Still, it's still a beast.
Undervolting mods might be more interesting.

Am I the only one that water cools CPU/GPUs and never overclocks them? I do it to get better temps, prolonge component life and be in control of the thermal and noise aspects. Not to get a score on synthetic benchmarks.

You're probably in the minority :P

Yes you are ...as long as the temps are below that of the air cooled card your still doing what you want

2x GPUs at 100% use and not passing the 45 C mark is why I do it

I'm with you there! Cool & Quiet is my way.

Cool and quiet wins for me too but at the price for THAT card and the mods needed............ only for the rich
Re: Der8auer overclocks a GeForce RTX 2080 using dry ice
Hardly surprising with a big fat power hungry chip like that.

I never OC GPu's as i've no need to and mostly run CPU's on stock coolers (wraith) and AIO for intel and amd in others but i don;t usually oc them. if i do, i select 'turbo' mode in the bios and don;t mess with the other stuff as i cannot be bothered. i know it defeats the object but i like the look of AIO's and the wraith coolers look good.
