Yup been my default for a while too. If I need some quicker location aware results then I manually navigate to google the few times I actually feel the need.
I keep flicking between it and startpage. Startpage is clunkier but the ducks links to yahoo make me uneasy.
Trialling startpage.com as an altenative privacy search engine and so far working well.
How people still use Google au natural is beyond me, its become an unholy mess in recent years what with all their 'design' choices. The only reason I'm still using them is thanks to 8-9 addons and that every time I've tried other search engines there's always this annoying voice in the back of my head that says maybe I'm missing something.
It's become my default search engine too and only use Bing or Google when DDG doesn't turn up what I'm looking for, which is rare.

On a side-note, checking out the actual browser landscape from the selectors at the side lists a number of browsers including some with very low usage numbers, yet for some reason Pale Moon isn't one of those listed.

I've tried to switch to duck duck go several times...but I always go back to google. The problem is that whilst it may give more accurate results (on account of having no information about me/prior searches/preferences/location etc etc) that makes the results much less relevant to me. It simply doesn't work as well as Google for me personally when I am trying to find something quickly. Google gets what I want within the top 10 (normally top 1..) almost every time, no matter how bad my phrasing/spelling. Duck Duck go all too often leaves those results buried.
I only really use it now if using TOR. I sold my soul to Google a long time ago and unpicking that deal is messy for everyone involved.
edit: Mind you, like pretty much everything in the modern world, it's still better than Bing. So there's that.

Can websites identify Pale Moon though or will they just identify it as Firefox?
It should be easily identifiable via User-Agent. For example, the latest version's one on Win7 x64 would be:
- Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; Win64; x64; rv:52.9) Goanna/4.1 PaleMoon/28.1.0 - if set to Native compatibility mode.
- Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; Win64; x64; rv:52.9) Gecko/20100101 Goanna/4.1 PaleMoon/28.1.0 - if set to Gecko compatibility mode.
- Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; Win64; x64; rv:52.9) Gecko/20100101 Goanna/4.1 Firefox/52.9 PaleMoon/28.1.0 - if set to Firefox compatibility mode.
As part of my ongoing Project DeGooglify, I have switched over to Firefox (across both Windows and mobile), and DDG as default search...
They've kind of got me by the short and curlies when it comes to GMail and Android though...
