There would be plenty of people out there who would settle for that kind of price/performance metric.
Forget about the ray tracing gumpf, its two generations too early for it viable at resolutions higher than 1080p.
But no want pay $400+ for 2060 let alone $500 for 2070
Re: AMD Radeon RX 670 rumoured for launch this weekend
I understand the 'not as fast as nvidia' point, but for those of us playing at less demanding resolutions, value is key, not cheap, but price per performance. Historically Nvidia have provided longevity for a fair price and with GPU 4 generations old (that can still play most things) I'd consider if the price and reviews were good enough.

This is a rumour, there isn't supposed to be any marketing from AMD when this isn't a product.

It unlikely to reach 1070 levels, but if GDDR6 is used it might get close. I doubt that they will though. The lack of marketing from AMD about this also points to it not being that much of an exciting release. If the price stays the same as the 570/580 then it should hit a pretty good price/performance ratio.
IMO it will be a refresh along the lines of the 480->580. Some minor efficiency tweaks maybe, but most of the gains from a small process shrink. ~15% more performance.
I'm interested in what releasing this says about how close Navi is, as I doubt they'd be bothering with an updated midrange card if Navi was coming out in Q1. The skeptic in me makes me think this points to Navi being later than even the June/July predictions.
I beg to disagree, I think there will be only a small production run for the 600 series as a quick injection to grab some market share. I still predict a may reliese for navi just after march's zen 2 release. Just a hypothesis based on leaks, but to grab media attention and market share this would be their best strat

Yeah, a rumour, I know. My point is that if there was something coming that was exciting AMD marketing would be letting us know. Building hype & all that. And they aren't, so either the rumours are wrong or it isn't a big boost in performance.
Just speculation of course :P

Well they tried that with Vega, it blew up in their face.
