Since we have a large selection of boards, it was tough to pick out the winners. Many features like Gigabit Ethernet, 8-channel surround audio and FireWire that were considered luxuries are now a dime a dozen, so we took a look instead at the various technologies that get incorporated into different manufacturers products. Notable features such as Foxconn's SuperBoot boot-time speed up function and the really nifty Stack Cool from ASUS caught our eye as innovative technologies that work. MSI's CPU clip is also real handy to have, but we felt that like a set of screwdrivers that some manufacturers provide, it is basically just a tool, which would probably be used only once. Among the many boards, the comprehensive ShieldWare, Cool-Plus detachable cooler and U-Plus D.P.S. module grabbed Gigabyte's GA-8GPNXP Duo our Most Innovative Product Award. The DFI LANPartyUT 915P-T12 also won our Most Innovative Product Award by virtue of its excellent enthusiast oriented technologies such as the CMOS Reloaded and EZ Touch switches. Their Karajan audio module is also an interesting way to try enhancing onboard audio quality.
