July 2016 or a couple of months ago, depending on whether you're looking at the last significant performance increase or the last purchase.

i7-6700 and RX480 bought in July 2016. I subsequently sold the RX480 for a profit during the mining boom, bought a GTX1070 and sold that for a profit too.
I'm now using an RX580 4GB bought a couple of months back, but that's not really a performance increase compared to the original 2016 purchase.

December 2016 Gigabyte Z170X Gaming 7 LGA1151 ATX, Gigabyte Nvidia GTX 1060 WF2 6GB GDDR5, Intel Core i7 6700K, Corsair CMK16GX4M2B3000C15 Vengeance LPX 16 GB and Samsung 960 EVO 500GB. Case NZXT H440 Red and Black. Rest of the gear I already had. This set up works just fine so may make it my last build although possibly double the storage to 1TB since it's so cheap nowadays.

Re: QOTW: When was the last time you upgraded your PC?

    Good question this week!

9/2014 was last pc build still using 5960X
    6/2015 2x980ti's still using them
    1/2017 1TB Samsung 960 pro
    7/2017 Massdrop HD6XX

Due for a gpu upgrade or possibly a complete new build but damn those 2080ti's are too expensive.
Used to build a new system every couple of years before this current build, Just have not needed to lately.
Only recently the 980ti's are starting to show their age for 1440p 165hz but I'll make them last until we have 7nm from AMD or Nvidia,Should be a real upgrade not this refresh BS.

Re: QOTW: When was the last time you upgraded your PC?

Upgraded GFX to 1070 from R9 290 which had started blowing a lot a couple of months back. Previous CPU/Motherboard upgrade was back in July 2016 and no reason to upgrade CPU/Motherboard/RAM/Storage (i5 6600k/170/16gb DDR4/M2 NvME) since, especially with price of RAM atm. Considering upping 250gb NvME to 500gb as prices are soooo tempting. Use for gaming & lots of work and runs as fast as I need it to

Re: QOTW: When was the last time you upgraded your PC?

This year I've added another two 500GB SSDs (striped array) and a 10G nic.

Graphics cards are due, but the prices of the latest stuff is too high for too little return.

Desktop is 4 years old Haswell-E. Haven't gotten round to overclocking it yet, so it kinda shows it's still powerful. I've got 16GB of RAM, and I've found some newer games are RAM monsters, I've had to start closing Photoshop when playing games! Maybe double that next time prices look good.

Re: QOTW: When was the last time you upgraded your PC?

After 8 years, finally ready to get a new PC/upgrade what I have. I'd expected things to have moved on in that time, but CPUs are only 3x as fast as my i7 870. I'd have thought 10x or 20x faster?
I've opted for a Ryzen 7 2700X + RTX2070 combo,B450 motherboard, 16GB 3000MHz RAM, EVO 970 1TB M2 PCie disk, corsair RM650 PSU, and a silent case. Does everything have to come with RGB LEDs now? just waiting for Black Friday to see if I can get a little money off.
I hope that will last me the next 8 years.

Re: QOTW: When was the last time you upgraded your PC?

I had to replace my R4E for an R4BE about 6 months ago. The CPU was ok, but replaced my 3930k for a 4930k.
I also replaced the 8x4Gb modules of RAM for 4x8Gb, with better speeds and same latency.
At that time I also re-did my WC loop, adding a second 360 radiator and making the loop simpler.

In the next week or so I will need to remove my current 2x980s and replace it with what I ordered at the end of September, that arrived just today

So basically, every 6~8 months I do, add or replace something.

Around two years ago - I replaced my GTX560 with a GTX980Ti and added an SSD and a pair of 8TB HDDs

Re: QOTW: When was the last time you upgraded your PC?

I got my first 'serious' PC in 2015 with a 980Ti, and it's been going pretty strong since then! Haven't felt the need to make any major upgrades but have replaced/added SSDs a couple of times after prices started coming down (and especially since free games started getting bundled with SSDs...)

still running my i7 920 @3.8ghz, 1070, couple of SSDs - plays everything at 1440p
Ram/SSD & Graphics cards have kept this thing running well, but starting to notice slowness in a couple of titles, so need to do an upgrade in the next wee while

Re: QOTW: When was the last time you upgraded your PC?

I got a GTX1080 just before the prices started to go mental due to mining, so guessing about 2 years ago....I'd like to get a new mobo and CPU but I can wait for RAM prices to fall to something sensible.

Re: QOTW: When was the last time you upgraded your PC?

Up until a couple weeks ago I was still using an AMD Phenom II 1055t which I bought in 2010, with 12GB DDR3 ram, and a 970-based AM3+ MSI motherboard I bought a couple years ago to "tide me over" to Ryzen after my glorious 6-year-old Gigabyte 890-based board became unreliable. That hardware just won't die, so I couldn't quite talk myself into building another when the first gen of Ryzen came out. I did upgrade my 2012-era 1GB HD6770 GPU to a 4GB RX560 a couple months ago, though.

Finally, though, I talked myself into an ITX Ryzen 2600 build under the pretense of power savings (125W TDP on the 1055t, 65 on the r5-2600, just to start), and because that new GPU was probably suboptimal while stuck on PCI 2.x, and because ITX is cute, and after 8 years of not needing most of the expansion capability of those AM3+ ATX boards, maybe I should give it a try. The RX560 card I have is fully bus-powered, no extra plug needed, so that helped.

And then I got an email from Hexus last week saying I won something...
