So... it's like a TARDIS?

If I had a quid for every abbreviation in the first paragraph I'd have...about a fiver...

I'm glad they cleared up CTF before I had to look it up though. I could imagine lots of electrons running around trying to grab the flag off other electrons, but couldn't see how that helped in data storage.

Sounds like a win win, increasing production efficiency and performance. With the developments in SSD i dont know why HDD technologies are still being developed to be honest; seems like only a matter of time until their only advantage, capacity, is superseded by SDDs.

So those were the shady looking people outside my place!

How about longevity? Granted, HDDs don't last (keep data) forever, but a fair bit longer than SSDs.

I kind of disagree on that. I got a pile of HDDs sitting in a shelf after dying. 24x7 operation kills consumer disks. They start to die between year 2 and 3. Some last longer. I still have to have an SSD to die on me.
I suppose that all depends on the use that you do of the devices and the housekeeping that you apply.

Got to admit, I did wonder if by some miracle they'd broken the laws of physics.

Crikey
We need a 4th dimension in boffinry to even understand all these acronyms!
