Whenever I hear that codename I'm thinking of a sound card...

    Anyway, colour me cautiously excited.

Yeah I’m the same. Nvidia desperately needs some competition and AMD AT THE MOMENT is not providing any.
Their 590 is a good performer but that power draw is horrendous, nearly 2x power consumption for about 10% performance increase over the 1060 (game/benchmark dependent). According the the Hexus review.

In AMDs defence they're just pushing what remains of Raja's design while working on Navi. I expect next year to be an interesting time for consumers

Finally! I've been waiting to find out more about larrabee since I got my GTX460 as a stop-gap. It's been a long stop-gap.

Can't wait to see what AMD product Intel is releasing

I kid, would be interesting what Intel is thinking of doing in the GPU market...

Is it just me who reads 'discrete GPU' and thinks only of add-in card?

Apparently Intel don't think the same as they say about connecting their GPU via EMIB so it would be more like a Kaby Lake G, technically they're correct but it's not what i think of when talking about discrete GPUs.

If they had called it an IGPU, a pedant would have pointed out it is technically discrete, so they would never have won that one either way

But yes I agree with what you say, to me a discrete GPU means an add in card, or at least one soldered into a laptop.

I could understand if they're connecting the memory (in the same way as HBM2) to the gpu. Maybe the dGPU also includes a cpu on the package.... Then we're going down the Volta route where you have specific cores for different tasks.

You're thinking of Arctic Lights. That's the sound card. Obviously. )

The most important thing is that it can run Battlefield V in full DXR mode at 4K/90FPS
The more you live, less you die. More you play, more you die. Isn't it great.

Yeah, sounds like "we don't have anything at all but we have to try and pull attention from AMD in any way we can".
