Mandate that hardware vendors must now supply drivers in this format while telling them any supporting applications must be provided via the Windows Store.

Is that why a friend of mine while installing a fresh Windows 1809 got asked for disk controller divers (preventing the installation to continue)? Then he tried with a previous windows version and the installation went smooth...
Windows is getting worst by the updates.
I notice realtek have audio app in the store. But then you would need a windows account?
Based on current Intel drivers and Win10, WMD is about the right description !

NV/AMD will win for at least one gen of Intel until they prove they are not the past Intel with regards to drivers. I'm am woefully unimpressed by Intel drivers for gpu over their history (in or out of a cpu).
