That's nice. But please don't feel sorry for us paupers, we could easily have new cars but choose not to because we can do maths.
My everyday car is second hand, bought 3 years old. It was a 30K car new, bought for 13K. So someone lost over half the value in depreciation in just three years, and it wasn't me. New cars are a luxury, if both myself and my wife threw money away like that it would indeed add up to the price of a house at some point
The wife's MX5 isn't her main car, it was bought as a track car. It already has the rollover bar installed, needs better tyres on it then it's going on a race circuit. That's the bit that gets me, it used to be that racing games were a cheap way to get some driving fun, but with modern CPU, RAM and GPU prices I think you are better off buying an actual car and doing it for real as it is the same cost and a real life experience. We both have an everyday boring car and a fun weekend car, but when it comes to dropping lots of money on a graphics card there is always something more interesting out there. Last time for me it was a 3D printer, so glad I got that it's been loads of fun.
