Re: QOTW: Do you own a drone?

As a YouTube content creator, I keep debating whether to get a drone. The problem is that to get the quality that would be required for good quality footage, I'd have to be spending quite a bit of money.

Kind of need to borrow one for a bit to see how I get on...

    DJI Phantom 4 advanced....
If you want to check out one on the cheap MJX Bugs 3 Pro. Mine was £130 with 2 x batteries. Won't cut it for youtube though

I have no drones of the quadcopter type, which is what you mean here. The degree of automation makes them a bit boring, with the exception of drone racing, which is well... a serious challenge. Bored users looking for some more interesting application is where it sometimes goes wrong, a bit like computer hacking. The dark side of the force.

I do have plenty of radio control aircraft (without a camera on board and not First Person Video), which are also technically drones (which has caused all sorts of panic and regulations definition problems!)

Quadcoptors provide an excellent camera platform used responsibly. Though they may well get more disturbing, if the police start pre-programmed patrolling with them. (Cheaper than officers on the beat) Science fiction soon to be fact.

That would also mean I get more target practice in on my old-fashioned projectile guns, and the cyberpunk whizz-kids down the road can stop using live animals for testing their homebrew Tasers and EMPs and sonic boomers and Las-Knives and other such sci-fi weaponry...

Minor necro. I've been wanting an action camera oriented action drone but still can't quite justify the cost (also worried about whether the battery can hold in cold weather, and if they are smart enough to avoid collision with trees).

But I'd pay money for a drone designed to patrol, detect, chase, target and zap mosquitos. Maybe with a camera capturing the moment those flying disease carrying blood suckers are shot down.

Can you tell that I am having troubles with mosquitoes?
