Apex Legends "broke a million unique players in under 8 hours" according to Respawn chief Vince Zampella's recent Tweet.
I'm impressed they got the Source engine to be so bogged down that recommended spec is a GTX970 or R9 290.
Battle royale is really starting to piss me off. Went to a games cafe place in my city recently to play something a little retro with a bunch of friends and the place was closed for the entire day for a private event, wherein that event was a horde of 5-13 year olds playing Fortnite and screaming at each other. At this rate I'm going to need some new game about indiscriminately killing everyone to de-stress..
i saw 'loot boxes' and immediately lost interest.
So true. I've taken to giving up on online games and switched back to single player only. Just can't be bothered with main stream gaming now its all battle royal. I guess its just a repeat of when everyone just played COD and called themselves a gamer. I stopped playing COD online at that point.
Battle royal everything. Its like the cinema now boring super hero movies.
Recap for a minute.
Set in titanfall's universe - but no titans or wall walking...hmmm
Battle Royale? But only 60 players....hmmm
Battle Royale? But only squad play....^^
Battle Royale? But with classes? Aah that explains why no duos or solos (imagine trying to balance that..)
Sounds terrible, looks terrible, don't think i'll waste my time downloading and I will just put more hours into PUBG :)
10 million in 72 hours...

The sound and graphics are pretty good actually, particularly compared to the more basic stylings of Plunkbat and the OTT cartoonyness of Fortnite.
The squads and classes are what makes it not just another battle royale, anyone can just slap a BR mode onto an existing game (looking at you Call of Duty,) but they've actually done a pretty good job of making teamwork both easy to do and heavily encouraged. If you go lone wolf you won't last long but giving teammates the ability to revive dead comrades ensures people stick together. The fact that you can suggest waypoints, spot enemies and alert mates to loot all with the middle mouse button is a nice touch too.
It's worth a go. I bounced off Fortnite hard and Plunkbat is ok but still isn't optimised or polished.
