Re: EVGA, Palit, and Galax GeForce GTX 1660 Ti pictures shared
I think Nvidia are making a critical error here by trying to saturate the market. My guess is they're trying to make a product for everyone whilst also using every bit of silicon when fab yields might not be great.
The problem is complexity. AMD's range is so simple I can keep all the available cards in my head and do a comparison on the fly. Nvidia's range is so damned complex and varied that no one can do that and you basically need a spreadsheet to do anything like a realistic comparison to weigh up the pros and cons of the different models. Then on top of that, with one model having a wider memory bus but slightly slower core speed compared to another, who really knows (without spending hours reading reviews of all the variants within their price range) what impact this will have in the real world?
The other issue is with all these models, Nvidia might be setting themselves up for a driver support fall. It has traditionally been the argument which can always swing you towards the green team if you're on the fence between green and red. If their driver support suffers because they're spending so much time developing RTX and now have a plethora of cards to support as well it may well mean AMD take the lead (although they've a LOT of work to do - Nvidia driver installation / update was seamless, AMD is like Russian roulette... will it work? Will I have to hit the reset button because the screen has gone all wappy and I can't see anything? Will it work when I reset it? Will it leave me with a blank screen, AGAIN? Urgh - no excuse for that in this day and age) with their much smaller range to support.

I couldn't agree more with Phil.

What's the point of pictures of these cards? I have a 960 that could double as that Palit 1660.

if i can get 1070 performance for £250/280 i think I'll be sold. That's unless amd release navi in time.

I haven't had driver install issues on AMD for .... a long time.
I don't see what goes wrong for people :(

Last problem I had was installing drivers for a HD 5450, the installer always thought it should be targeting the onboard HD 3200..
R9 Fury was supposed to be a dumpster fire of driver problems, but excluding an allergy to my displayport cable, it\'s been solid since I got it.

There are a few rumours kicking around that Navi will be delayed until October.. I hope they're wrong, but it wouldn't surpise me if they were true. A gift to Nvidia if so, AMD will have to price cut existing Radeons too.

I totally get making sure the product is right but if the whole of Navi is getting delayed to October, arguing the buck with poophats beating AMD down becomes a complete fallacy.
Unless Navi is being retweaked as a 2080ti beater at half the price, Navi being pushed back to October is bad.

we will definatly see empty shelves in terms of radeons then. We'll be seeing 570s go sub 100 then sell out in a second

Yea, RX 590 for £200 and RX 580 for £150 would be a good move too. It would make a change from all the over priced cards on offer.

Yes certainly bad, if no high end version is coming as well. Hopefully it's just a rumour but I have the feeling it might be on the money etc. With GTX 1660 ti cards coming, current AMD offerings will be on the ropes without a price cut of significance.. Although I have seen an MSI Vega 56 going for £299 on Ebuyer with 2 or 3 games bundled with it already, so maybe prices are already beginning to fall.

I even tried DDU in safe mode, wiped out everything display driver related and as soon as I rebooted and installed the latest AMD drivers it gave me a completely wappy screen that I couldn\'t see to do anything on. I had to hope, hit reset and luckily it all worked fine. But it makes any driver updates really scary as before now I\'ve had to remove the AMD card and switch to integrated GPU in order to fix the stupid thing.

Same. It\'s like a meme that won\'t die lol.
Been using ATI/AMD since 2004, with an 8600GT and 7900GTO from Nvidia along the way. Had no issues with any of my cards from either manufacturer.
